Description
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Austin, TX three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
The Vehicle Data Engineering team is on the lookout for a talented Senior Software Engineer to play a pivotal role in the development of cutting-edge vehicle data storage and retrieval systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in creating operational data stores and developing high-performance, scalable APIs for efficient data access. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Operational Data Store (ODS) solutions and APIs, ensuring seamless data integration and accessibility across the organization.
What You'll Do
  • Design and implement an Operational Data Store (ODS) architecture to support the management and accessibility of vehicle specifications and state data.
  • Develop and maintain APIs to enable data access and integration with various applications and services.
  • Create and optimize ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from multiple sources into the ODS.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications for ODS and API development.
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and performance optimization of ODS and APIs.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers and team members.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in data management, ODS technologies, and API development.

Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years software engineering experience, with a focus on data engineering and proficiency in Java.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka, Spark, etc.
  • 3+ years of experience with Kubernetes.
  • Proven cloud experience and strong familiarity with at least one cloud platform (Microsoft Azure - preferred , AWS, GCP).
  • Familiarity with observability using the Open Telemetry (OTel) framework.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure deployment using Terraform.
  • Proven experience as an ODS Developer and API Developer or similar roles, with a strong understanding of data warehousing and API design principles.
  • Knowledge in both relational and non-relational DB and experience in Schema design.
  • Good understanding and experience with CI/CD practices.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent teamwork skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively.

What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Master's Degree or Ph.D.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure technologies - AKS, Cosmos DB, Event Hubs, ADX.

Compensation:
  • The expected base compensation for this role is: $134,000- $205,000. Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
