Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an exceptionally talented Senior Software Development Engineer in Test to join our team! In this role, you will design and execute test strategies that span software-hardware integration, sensor fusion, autonomy algorithms, and end-to-end system verification within a fast-paced Agile/Scrum environment. You will embed quality practices, identify defects early, and support rapid iteration while meeting stringent DoD security, safety, and performance standards in a classified defense setting.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Develop, maintain, and execute detailed test plans, test cases, and test procedures for software-hardware integration, interface validation, sensor data handling, and autonomy module performance

  • Perform manual exploratory, functional, regression, and system-level testing in integration labs and hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) environments

  • Design, implement, and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts (UI, API, integration, and performance) to accelerate verification within CI/CD and MLOps pipelines

  • Collaborate with software developers, systems engineers, and the Scrum Master to define acceptance criteria, automate regression suites, and shift quality left in every sprint

  • Conduct integration & verification (I&V) activities, including defect triage, root-cause analysis, and verification of MOSA compliance and interoperability requirements

  • Integrate automated tests into DevSecOps pipelines (static/dynamic analysis, container scanning, and model validation) to ensure secure, repeatable deployments

  • Support formal qualification testing, field demonstrations, and operational assessments for USSOCOM unmanned platforms

  • Document test artifacts in tools such as Jira, Confluence, and test management systems while maintaining traceability to program requirements

  • Identify process improvements, champion test automation best practices, and mentor junior testers on manual and automated techniques

  • Work in compliance with DoD, USSOCOM, and program security requirements while sustaining high Agile velocity in a high-tempo, sometimes classified development environment

Required Clearance:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Must possess an active Secret clearance and be willing/able to obtain/maintain a TS/SCI clearance

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field and 8+ years of hands-on experience as a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) or Test Engineer, with demonstrated proficiency in both manual testing and test automation

  • Strong manual testing skills, including test design, exploratory testing, and execution in complex software-hardware integration environments

  • Solid experience developing and maintaining automated tests using frameworks such as Selenium, PyTest, Robot Framework, Cucumber, or equivalent, with scripting proficiency in Python or similar languages

  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and test integration within DevSecOps workflows

  • Understanding of systems engineering principles, interface management, and integration & verification processes

  • Willingness to travel (25–50%)

  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to thrive in an Agile/Scrum team environment

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Experience supporting DoD or USSOCOM programs, especially in unmanned systems, autonomy, AI/ML, or MOSA-based architectures.

  • Hands-on background with defense-specific testing environments (integration labs, HWIL, autonomy simulation frameworks, or sensor test beds).

  • Prior exposure to classified development workflows and cross-domain solutions.

  • Certifications such as ISTQB, Certified Tester, or equivalent Agile testing credentials.

  • Preferred Toolsets / Technologies: Python, Java, Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Postman, Docker, Kubernetes, GitLab, Jenkins, Terraform, OpenShift, REST APIs, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Grafana, Jira, Confluence, TAK Ecosystem Technologies, AI/ML Frameworks, Linux, AWS, Azure
