The Zebra is looking for a Senior SEO Content Specialist to help further define and grow its already-successful SEO strategy. This person will play a key role in our team's continued growth by identifying new content opportunities through competitor and keyword research, shaping large-scale content initiatives, and ensuring high-quality execution across the site.
To be successful in this role, you'll need a strong understanding of how search engines work and how to apply that knowledge to real business problems. You'll leverage search insights to develop content strategies that improve both user experience and search performance—driving meaningful traffic and revenue growth. You'll be responsible for conducting competitor and keyword research (both independently and using inputs from our analytics team), creating detailed content briefs for large-scale initiatives, and working with contractors to roll out updates and improvements efficiently and at scale.

Oversee The Zebra’s data-driven SEO landing pages, using original data and creating content that is educational and encourages consumers to use our insurance comparison product.
Ideate, generate, edit, and publish SEO content at scale with the goal of driving organic traffic and revenue, supporting other marketing channels and link building initiatives
Relay their knowledge of the insurance industry, pricing data and SEO to team members and help foster their growth and skills in these areas by training junior team members and contractors.
Apply learnings from competitive intelligence analyses and content audits to The Zebra’s content and/or optimization processes.
Monitor and stay ahead of Google, SEO developments, competitors, and industry trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
Create detailed content briefs and blueprints for contractors and freelance writers, ensuring consistent quality and alignment with SEO and brand standards
Optimize content for user intent and search journey—balancing keyword targeting with readability, page structure, and conversion paths
Lead and support content projects within the team's scope, and assist with process improvements for streamlining workflows
Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and analytics teams to ensure content supports broader business goals
Organic traffic growth and share of voice improvements across target content areas
Content output quality and velocity—delivering high-performing content on schedule
Revenue impact from SEO-driven content initiatives
3+ years of hands-on SEO experience with a focus on content strategy (agency or in-house)
Ability to analyze performance data and communicate clear, actionable recommendations
Basic understanding of basic HTML, JavaScript and CSS
Demonstrated experience optimizing content for both search performance and user experience
Understanding of E-E-A-T principles, especially as they apply to YMYL content
Proficiency with Google Search Console and SEO tools such as seoClarity and Screaming Frog
Strong writing and communication skills
Experience in insurance, fintech, or other regulated/YMYL industries
Experience managing contractors or freelance writers at scale
Familiarity with content optimization tools (Clearscope, MarketMuse, SurferSEO, or similar)
Experience with AI optimization tracking and strategy creation.
Comfortable wearing multiple hats and contributing across various facets of SEO
Experience working closely with UX, product, or design teams

The base salary range for this position is $95,000 - $105,000 per year. The final salary amount will be determined based on a variety of factors, including experience, skills, internal equity, and insights gained throughout the interview process
