SENIOR SATELLITE COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS ENGINEER
Location: Colorado Springs, CO
Clearance: Top Secret SCI eligible, TS required
OVERVIEW
Responsible for contributing to the development, validation, testing, implementation and deployment of protected SATCOM mission products with specific focus on AEHF International Partners (IP). Ability to support system engineering, develop system-level communications architectures, IP-specific and coalition communication plans, conduct special analysis, modeling, simulations and produce various IP specific operational mission products. In some instances, you may be required to participate in systems engineering integration and testing, agile software development and deliver IP centric AEHF familiarization courses.   
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM field from an accredited college or university. (One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required experience.)
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in military or commercial Satellite Communications (SATCOM), with a strong preference for experience in Protected Military SATCOM (MILSATCOM) systems.
  • Active US Top Secret security clearance and ability to obtain SCI eligibility is required.
  • Candidate must be located within commuting distance of Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado or be willing to relocate to the area.
  • Domestic and international (primarily to Canada, The Netherlands, United Kingdom and Australia) travel is required.
  • Must be able to support rotating 24/7 on-call responsibilities and occasional on-site surge to support non-standard work schedules.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex issues and ideas to team members, leadership, and stakeholders-including U.S. and allied military, government, and contractor personnel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to evaluate complex situations and implement effective solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support a U.S. Space Force Satellite Operations Squadron’s ally-focused support center
  • Provide SATCOM support in operations, communications and coalition planning, crypto, testing, familiarization, and special analysis.
  • Ensure U.S. and ally export control and data separation.
  • Support and advocate for U.S. and allies while interfacing with operations and technical authorities, operations and support centers, and other stakeholders .
  • Conduct troubleshooting with system users and coordinate during system anomalies.
  • 7+ years prior experience as SATCOM planner, operator, and/or engineer.
  • Experience in SATCOM engineering, development, operations, testing, or training.
  • Knowledge of EHF user community, mission planning, apportionment/allocation, resource monitoring, and terminal control desired.
  • Knowledge and application of Mission Planning Element/Subsystem (MPE/MPSS) desired.
  • Experience with EHF terminal operations desired (e.g., SMART-T, NMT, etc.) desired.
  • Experience in software analysis, modeling, and simulation a plus (e.g., SQL, MATLAB, STK, Scripting, etc.).
  • Comfortably and effectively speak in front of large groups.
  • Independently conduct formal and informal training presentations.
  • Work effectively as a team member, receiving and providing support, inputs, and direction.
  • Strong communication skills and team collaboration required.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
  • Salary Range: $90,000.00-$110,000.00 annually (based on experience and qualifications)
