The Senior Production Supervisor leads complex, high-volume aerospace manufacturing operations to ensure production schedules, quality standards, safety requirements, and customer commitments are met. This role provides advanced leadership across production teams and drives operational performance in a fast-paced, highly regulated aerospace environment.

Working with limited supervision, this role partners with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Inventory Control, Planning, and Program Management to ensure production readiness, resolve operational issues, and drive performance improvements. The position is responsible for cross-functional alignment, escalation management, workforce capability, and compliance with internal procedures and AS9100 requirements.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Advanced Production Leadership & Operations Management

  • Lead and coordinate daily and long-range manufacturing activities to meet production schedules, quality standards, and customer commitments.
  • Provide supervision, coaching, and development for production personnel and frontline supervisors, promoting accountability and teamwork.
  • Serve as escalation point for complex production issues and drive cross-functional resolution.
  • Monitor labor, schedule adherence, productivity, and performance metrics to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Lead production meetings and performance reviews to communicate priorities and operational status.
  • Support workforce planning, capacity management, and production readiness.
  • Ensure safe, efficient execution of production activities aligned with operational priorities.
  •  Cross-Functional Leadership & Operational Integration

  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to resolve complex technical issues, improve production workflows, and implement sustainable process improvements.
  • Coordinate closely with Inventory Control, Supply Chain, and Planning teams to ensure material availability, kit readiness, inventory accuracy, and production flow optimization.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, and Program Management to address production constraints, nonconformances, and customer-impacting issues.
  • Support launch readiness for new programs, engineering changes, and process transitions into production.
  • Act as a key liaison between production teams and leadership to ensure alignment on priorities, risks, and recovery plans.
  • Provide clear, timely communication of operational status, risks, and mitigation strategies to leadership stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence Leadership 

  • Lead Lean Manufacturing, 6S, and standard work initiatives across production areas.
  • Identify bottlenecks and drive cross-functional corrective actions to resolve systemic issues.
  • Improve throughput, quality, cost, delivery, and safety performance.
  • Use operational metrics and data to guide decisions and prioritize improvements.
  • Lead root cause analysis and ensure effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Promote accountability, operational discipline, and continuous improvement across teams.
  • Quality, Compliance & Inventory Control

  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety standards, environmental requirements, and aerospace quality standards, including AS9100.
  • Oversee adherence to manufacturing procedures, work instructions, and controlled documentation requirements.
  • Partner with Quality to lead investigations into nonconformances, escape events, and audit findings, ensuring timely closure and systemic correction.
  • Support inventory accuracy through oversight of cycle counts, material reconciliation, transaction integrity, and discrepancy resolution.
  • Ensure production areas maintain audit readiness for internal, customer, and regulatory audits.
  • Reinforce safe work practices and ensure consistent compliance with safety protocols across all shifts and teams.
  • Leadership Development & Organizational Capability 

  • Develop, mentor, and support frontline supervisors and production leads to strengthen leadership pipeline and operational capability.
  • Lead performance management activities including coaching, feedback, development planning, and corrective action when necessary.
  • Support training strategy execution, cross-training programs, and workforce skill development initiatives.
  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on engagement, accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive consistency in leadership practices across production shifts and teams.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED required. Equivalent combinations of education, training, certifications, and relevant experience may be considered. 
  • Minimum of 4+ years of manufacturing experience required, preferably in aerospace, defense, electronics, or other highly regulated production environments.
  • Minimum of 1+ year of leadership experience required, including leading teams, coordinating production activities, or serving in a lead or supervisory capacity. 
  • Strong understanding of aerospace manufacturing operations and production systems.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 6S, and operational excellence principles.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 and regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with production planning, labor management, and capacity optimization.
  • Ability to support problem-solving and root cause analysis.
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, or similar).
  • Ability to analyze production data, metrics, and manufacturing workflows.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of inventory control, material flow, and production logistics.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting quality, safety, and delivery requirements.
