About NetBox Labs
At NetBox Labs, our mission is to make it easier to build and manage complex networks. As a product company, we do that by developing innovative software for network professionals delivered on-premises and in the cloud.
We are seeking a Senior Product Manager to own our Foundations platform — the shared, internal infrastructure that every NetBox Labs team builds on. Reporting to the VP of Product, you will partner closely with our dedicated Foundations engineering team and work across application teams in Cloud, Enterprise to ensure that what we build internally is treated as a real product, with real customers: our engineers.
This role is ideal for the product manager who enjoys being hands-on, thrives in ambiguous environments where the work is not yet well-defined, and is energized by the leverage that great platform work creates — fewer repeated decisions, faster delivery, and less production risk for every team that builds on top of your product.
What You'll Do
Own the Platform Foundations roadmap end-to-end — from in-house shared services (Authentication & Authorization, User & Organization Management, Billing & Entitlement, UI Platform, API Platform) through spec governance, versioning strategy, and adoption milestones across Cloud and Enterprise delivery methods
Maintain the Foundations spec as a living, authoritative artifact — define clear contracts, drive the change proposal process, ensure decisions and tradeoffs are explicitly documented and keep the spec aligned with implementation reality
Treat internal engineering teams as your customers — run regular discovery with application teams across Cloud, Enterprise, and Applications to surface friction, adoption blockers, and unmet needs; translate those findings into a prioritized, well-reasoned backlog
Define and track adoption metrics — which teams are on which spec versions, implementation status across delivery methods, and where divergence is accumulating, and use those to drive platform investment decisions
Serve as the connective tissue between the Foundations team and distributed application teams and manage cross-team dependencies, surface blockers early, and keep adoption timelines explicit
Represent platform work in exec reviews and cross-functional planning — translate infrastructure complexity into clear priorities and business rationale for non-technical audiences
What We're Looking For
7+ years of experience in product management, with meaningful time spent on platform, infrastructure, API, or internal developer tooling products
Demonstrated track record of treating platform as a product — understanding that internal engineering teams are customers with real pain points and building the discovery, feedback, and prioritization loops to serve them well
Comfortable with technical depth: able to engage credibly on API contracts, versioned specs, service interfaces, and architectural tradeoffs without needing to own the implementation
Strong written communication and documentation instincts — can write and maintain clear, opinionated technical requirements and specifications
Experience managing competing priorities across multiple internal stakeholder teams and making principled tradeoff decisions under resource constraints
Comfortable operating across dual delivery models (cloud-hosted and self-hosted/on-prem) and understand why the same capability may need different implementations and how to keep interfaces consistent
Excellent ability to drive alignment across engineering and cross-functional teams without positional authority
Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building structure where none yet exists
Bonus Qualifications
Familiarity with internal developer platform concepts: service catalogs, golden paths, CI/CD standardization, shared component libraries, or developer portals
Exposure to Kubernetes, Postgres, or Redis in a product, platform, or SRE context — you don't need to operate them, but you should understand why spec constraints around them exist
Experience working with open source software projects and communities
Hands-on experience as a software engineer, DevOps engineer, or infrastructure engineer
