Pay Range

$95,200.00-$130,900.00 Annual

This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire.   Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus. 

The Senior Product Engineer is responsible for supporting markets and customers by providing the link between product development R&D, application development, and manufacturing. The Senior Product Engineer will design and implement product improvements to existing product lines that improve products’ value proposition to internal or external customers as well as develop new products to meet customer needs based on existing products in the market.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Lead new product and process development when they move past the R&D phase and are being scaled up at JM's manufacturing facilities.
  • Provide internal and external (customer) technical service to operations when customer issues and complaints arise for existing and new products.
  • Design and implement product improvements to existing product lines that improve the products value proposition to internal or external customers.
  • Develop new products to meet customer needs based on products in the market.
  • Create manufacturing specifications by performing complex experiments to link product requirements to manufacturing capabilities.
  • Design solutions for equipment issues.
  • Drive excellence in staged product development and in project management in the Innovation Commercialization Group.
  • Demonstrate aggressive IP protection attitude for new developments.
  • Keep abreast of market intelligence on competitor's technology and product platforms and feedback into IC group and business team.
  • Identify requirements and develop product definitions for potential new developments that will lead to solutions that provide value to our customers.
  • May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering or a degree in a related STEM field with a minimum of 5 years’ engineering experience or relevant JM engineering experience.  
  • Master’s degree in engineering with a minimum of 3 years’ engineering experience or relevant JM engineering experience.
  • PhD with a minimum of 1 year engineering experience.
  • Ability to translate complex technical needs into robust products.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently with strong project management skills.
  • Strong technical skills in data gathering, statistical and engineering analysis and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated success in launching new products or driving improvement initiatives that have resulted in successful business impacts.
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and problem-solving techniques. Experience with feasibility studies and validation testing.
  • Supervises/Leads individuals or a project team to achieve milestones and objectives by setting priorities and providing direction. May provide feedback for performance evaluations.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a production environment during trials.
  • Ability to execute on deliverables.
  • Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams.
  • Heavy travel required (20%-35%)
  • Ability and willingness to work hands-on to solve equipment and mechanical issues.
  • May be required to lift, carry, push or pull up to and including 25 pounds.
  • Work environment is typical of a research and development facility; during plant trials may be exposed to environmental conditions of cold, heat, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, heights, dust/mist/gas/fumes, extensive walking or climbing, etc
