About the role

The Senior People Partner is a strategic advisor to leaders and a driver of organizational performance, leadership effectiveness, and workforce health. Operating as an embedded partner, this role manages complex employee relations, coaches leaders through sensitive people decisions, and proactively influences how teams are built, led, and held accountable.

This role extends beyond tactical execution into shaping strategic outcomes: anticipating organizational risks, connecting people insights to business objectives, and ensuring Riot scales with clarity, consistency, and fairness. The Senior People Partner protects Riot’s culture and operational integrity while enabling the business to grow and perform. This is a strategic role central to People Operations - not a reactive HR function.

Essential Functions

Strategic Leader Partnership & Organizational Effectiveness

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on organizational design, workforce planning, and team effectiveness.
  • Anticipate people risks, capability gaps, and cultural issues before they impact business outcomes.
  • Lead discussions on engagement, workforce health, retention, and organizational performance.
  • Align talent and people decisions with business strategy and operating goals.

Employee Relations & Risk Management

  • Own high-risk, high-complexity employee relations matters including investigations, performance issues, and sensitive workplace concerns.
  • Ensure outcomes are fair, consistent, legally sound, and people-centered.
  • Coach leaders on preventative people practices and accountability expectations.
  • Act as an escalation point and mentor for People Partners on complex cases.

Performance Management & Talent Calibration

  • Lead performance calibration cycles for assigned client groups.
  • Coach leaders on expectation-setting, feedback, documentation, and performance differentiation.
  • Translate performance insights into development actions, talent decisions, and risk mitigation.
  • Support succession planning and talent risk assessment for critical roles.

Leadership Coaching & Influence

  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with leaders across the organization.
  • Facilitate difficult conversations and alignment-building discussions.
  • Influence leadership behavior, team dynamics, and decision-making through coaching.
  • Serve as a stabilizing presence during periods of conflict, growth, or change.

Culture, Engagement & Workforce Health

  • Reinforce expectations for clarity, accountability, and high performance.
  • Identify engagement risks and support leaders in developing meaningful action plans.
  • Use ER data, engagement insights, and workforce health metrics to inform leadership decisions.

Program Leadership & COE Collaboration

  • Partner with Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, and L&D to deliver people strategies and programs.
  • Drive consistent adoption of performance, compensation, and talent processes.
  • Provide feedback to COEs based on firsthand insights from leaders and employees.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Deep expertise in employee relations, leadership coaching, and performance management.
  • Exceptional judgment and communication skills, especially in high‑stakes or sensitive situations.
  • Ability to identify patterns, connect insights, and translate them into actions.
  • Strong relationship‑building, influence, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in autonomy, ambiguity, and organizational complexity.

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive HR or People Partner experience, including ownership of complex ER cases.
  • Experience supporting fast‑moving, operationally complex environments (e.g., manufacturing, energy, data centers, tech, or similar) strongly preferred.

Compensation and Benefits 

  • Competitive Salary: Base salary range $120,000 - $140,000 (commensurate with experience) + bonus + sign-on equity grant.
