Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Tools Engineer with expert knowledge of SolarWinds and Network Capacity Management to join our network operations team. This individual will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, and optimizing network management tools, focusing on SolarWinds and capacity planning. The Senior Network Tools Engineer will work closely with the network and IT teams to ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of our network infrastructure. You will work hybrid from one of our locations. You will report to the Senior Manager of Network Operations.

Your Responsibilities:

SolarWinds Expertise

  • Administer, configure, and optimize SolarWinds suite of network management tools, including Network Performance Monitor (NPM), Network Configuration Manager (NCM), and other SolarWinds modules.
  • Implement advanced monitoring, alerting, and reporting capabilities within SolarWinds for proactive network management.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to SolarWinds performance, configuration, and integration.
  • Lead network capacity planning efforts, ensuring that network resources meet current and future demands.
  • Develop and execute strategies for effective network resource utilization, monitoring, and scaling.
  • Analyze network traffic and performance data to identify bottlenecks and provide recommendations for optimization.
  • Design and implement network monitoring solutions to track the health, performance, and availability of network devices and services.
  • Proactively identify and address performance issues, providing root cause analysis and remediation plans.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex network issues, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Develop scripts and automation tools to streamline network management tasks and reporting (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
  • Integrate SolarWinds with other network and IT management tools to enhance monitoring and data flow.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for network monitoring configurations, performance baselines, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Prepare and deliver regular network performance reports and capacity planning recommendations to senior management.
  • Provide mentorship to junior network engineers and administrators on best practices related to SolarWinds and network performance management.
  • Lead initiatives for continuous improvement of network management tools and processes.

The Essentials - You Will Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or equivalent degree.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

  • 7+ years of experience in network engineering, with a strong focus on network monitoring, performance management, and capacity planning.
  • Expert-level experience in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting SolarWinds network management tools (e.g., NPM, NCM, NTA, SAM).
