Faro Health aims to improve lives by helping life sciences companies answer complex clinical questions simply, efficiently, and effectively. Our software platform serves as a single source of truth for orchestrating complex clinical development. By bringing data and teams together, we empower researchers to design more intelligent trials and reach milestones faster.
The RoleAs a Senior Manual QA Engineer, you will be a high-impact individual contributor responsible for ensuring the reliability and integrity of different systems that conform to the Faro Health ecosystem. You are not just a tester; you are a quality advocate who understands that clinical data requires a meticulous, detail-oriented approach.
Leveraging your deep expertise in SaaS, cloud-native architectures, and LLM-augmented workflows, you will analyze complex user requirements, design comprehensive test strategies, prepare/execute test cases and serve as a mentor to junior and contractor engineers. You will play a critical role in our continuous integration environment while ensuring our manual testing foundation remains rock-solid.
Duties and Responsibilities- Test Strategy & Design: Analyze user requirements and design documents to develop detailed, risk-based test plans and manual test cases for a complex SaaS platform.
- Execution & Reporting: Lead the execution of functional, regression, and integration test cases. Document defects with high precision and provide detailed testing summaries for different team members within the organization.
- Data Validation: Utilize SQL queries to analyze, manipulate, and validate test data.
- Impact Analysis: Evaluate proposed software changes to determine their impact on platform performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and "best practice" mentoring to QA Engineers to improve team efficiency and testing depth.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate the flow of information and maintain close communication with Developers, Product Owners, and DevOps.
- Process Improvement: Apply innovative thinking to improve existing QA methodologies and ensure approved development standards are followed.
- Issue Monitoring: Provide close monitoring and triage of issues found during the SDLC as well as high-priority bugs reported by end-users.
RequirementsQualifications
- Experience: 8–10+ years in the Quality Assurance discipline, with a proven track record in fast-moving, growth-minded startups. You have successfully navigated the transition from early-stage builds to scaled production environments.
- AI & Efficiency: Proactive expertise in leveraging Generative AI and LLM tools to augment manual testing. This includes using AI for:
- Synthesizing complex product requirements into comprehensive test cases.
- Optimizing test coverage by using AI to identify edge cases that traditional methods might miss.
- Technical Proficiency: Extensive experience testing cloud-native applications (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and modern, multi-tenant SaaS platforms. You understand the nuances of testing distributed systems.
- Data Skills: Expert-level proficiency in SQL for deep data validation and backend integrity testing.
- Methodology: Strong understanding of black-box and white-box testing, as well as non-functional, performance, accessibility and security testing principles.
- Analytical Mindset: Meticulous and detail-oriented approach with the ability to solve complex problems independently. You don’t just find bugs; you perform root cause analysis and provide the technical context necessary for rapid resolution.
- Strategic Communication: Excellent writing, verbal and presentation skills; ability to translate technical bugs into business-level impact for stakeholders and maintain proactive alignment with supervisors and cross-functional teams. Active participation in design reviews, sprint planning, and daily stand-ups.
- Adaptability & Collaboration: Thrives in environments with evolving requirements. You are a self-starter who works effectively across different time zones, fostering a culture of quality across engineering and product teams.
- Strong experience using Quality and Test Management tools (e.g., Jira, QASE).
- Self-motivated and capable of working under minimal supervision.
- Proactive communicator who excels at risk mitigation by identifying and escalating blockers immediately while independently driving their own testing workstreams and managing high-volume requests with competing priorities.
- Proven ability to build cooperation and cohesiveness across engineering and product teams.
- Familiarity with the "shift-left" approach and supporting the transition from manual-heavy to automation-integrated workflows.
