Job Duties and Responsibilities
Cloud and Platform Team Manager should possess a blend of technical expertise, leadership abilities, and interpersonal skills to lead a team effectively and drive the successful adoption and management of Kubernetes infrastructure and services within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a team of platform engineers responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable and reliable infrastructure solutions
  • Define and drive the strategic direction of the platform engineering team, aligning with organizational goals and business objectives
  • Oversee the design, deployment, and operation of cloud-native platforms, such as Kubernetes, ensuring high availability, performance, and security
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and internal/external customer teams including development, operations, and security, to design and implement infrastructure solutions that meet business requirements
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and excellence
  • Establish and maintain best practices, standards, and processes for infrastructure automation, configuration management, and deployment pipelines.
  • Develop and implement monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions to ensure the health, performance, and reliability of platform services
  • Drive initiatives to optimize infrastructure costs, improve resource utilization, and increase operational efficiency
  • Manage vendor relationships and evaluate third-party tools and services to enhance the platform's capabilities and meet business needs
  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders, including executives, to provide updates on platform initiatives, project statuses, and key metrics
  • Continuously assess and evolve the platform engineering team's capabilities, ensuring alignment with emerging technologies, industry trends, and organizational goals

Skills, Experience and Requirements
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's / Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of work experience with minimum of 2 years of Team Management experience

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Kubernetes Expertise: In-depth knowledge and experience with Kubernetes, including cluster management, container orchestration, deployment strategies, and troubleshootingl the manager should be able to provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to team members working with Kubernetes
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools and practices, such as Terraform, Ansible, or Helm, to automate the deployment and management of Kubernetes infrastructure and related resources
  • Cloud Computing: Understanding of AWS cloud computing platforms, IAM, Cloud Networking, VPC, Internet/NAT/Transit Gateway and experience in deploying and managing Kubernetes clusters in cloud environments; familiarity with cloud-native technologies and best practices is essential
  • Team Leadership: Strong leadership skills to inspire and motivate team members, set clear goals and expectations, and foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment; the manager should provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities to team members
  • Project Management: Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools to plan, execute, and track projects related to Kubernetes infrastructure and services; the manager should be able to prioritize tasks, allocate resources effectively, and ensure timely delivery of projects
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with team members, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams; the manager should be able to articulate technical concepts clearly and concisely and facilitate productive discussions
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong problem-solving skills to identify and address technical challenges, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions; the manager should encourage a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively with other teams, such as development, operations, and security teams, to ensure seamless integration of Kubernetes infrastructure with other systems and processes
  • Adaptability and Learning Agility: Willingness to stay updated on the latest trends and developments in Kubernetes and cloud technologies and adapt to evolving requirements and challenges; the manager should promote a culture of learning and skill development within the team
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and align Kubernetes initiatives with business objectives and organizational goals; the manager should develop a roadmap for Kubernetes adoption and evolution, considering long-term scalability, reliability, and security requirements

Preferred Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
  • Engineering / Masters in Information, Computer, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology or related field

Certifications:
  • One or more of:
    • AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional or Associate).
    • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer
    • AWS Certified Security - Specialty.
    • CKA/CKAD

Salary Ranges
Compensation: $127,050.00/Year - $181,500.00/Year

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
