Primary Purpose

The Senior IT Project Manager is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of strategic, cross-functional projects that successfully meet business objectives.  Provides leadership and inspiration to project team members. Manages third party vendors to ensure they deliver the value and services as contracted.  Works closely with business stakeholders to meet client expectations and deliver maximum value to the business. In addition, the Sr. Project Manager is directly responsible for coordination of matrixed project team members and tasks, quality of project deliverables, developing presentations plus communications with team members and stakeholders.  The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT project delivery in both applications and infrastructure with demonstrated experience leading business-facing initiatives and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with matrixed team members across a broad cross-section of stakeholders. This person is expected to understand and abide by all company policy, standards and guidelines. Additionally, this position provides the opportunity to develop leadership skills as it is responsible for providing developmental leadership and guidance for junior-level project managers.

  • Manages and leads all aspects of project planning and execution to meet the project objectives and deliver value. This includes, but is not limited to, clearly defining scope and acceptance criteria, schedule development/tracking, resource planning, budget planning/reporting, risk/issue management, stakeholder management, communications and training. 
  • Lead SAP-related projects or integrations, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and business goals.
  • Lead and motivate project teams consisting of both internal and external resources.
  • Manages all aspects of vendor lifecycle – vendor selection (RFP/RFQ/Sole Source), staffing, execution, quality, etc. Collaborates with supply management, cybersecurity and other internal stakeholders, and comply with company policies and processes.
  • Lead discussions with business stakeholders to scope, estimate and prioritize solutions that deliver business value. Develop and present business cases to secure project funding.
  • Proactively engages IT resource managers, application/system owners and multiple stakeholders to ensure projects are adequately resourced.
  • Addresses multiple competing priorities using tactful negotiation and communications skills.
  • Provide mentorship and/or supervision to 1-3 junior project managers.
  • Contribute to the improvement and maturity of internal project and portfolio management practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for managing project budgets for selected capital projects ranging from $500K-$10M+.
  • Expertise leading a cross-functional team in the analysis, design and implementation of technology solutions in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Teamwork and interpersonal skills in setting and managing client expectations. Extremely effective in communicating complex technical matters in business terms.
  • Business analysis skills with the ability to lead stakeholders in developing conceptual solutions to complex business problems.
  • Vendor management experience – RFP development, contract negotiation/execution.
  • Presentation skills – expertise in developing/delivering executive-level presentations.
  • Strong aptitude in both infrastructure and software development disciplines
  • Project management skills with the capacity to multitask and manage multiple medium-to-large projects across multiple IT disciplines.
  • Traditional project management tools, methodologies and technical platforms (e.g., MS Project).
  • Agile project management tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps).
  • Communications skills with diverse audiences, in both oral and written contexts.
Preferred Qualifications

Required Qualifications
Education

  • Typically requires a 4 year degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Experience

  • 8+ years’ related experience in Project Management disciplines
  • Project Management Certified Professional (PMP) 
  • Have led and implemented several large IT projects (>$1M)
  • Experience with SAP systems and integration is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree Business Administration, Project Management or related business/technical discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience leading SAP-related projects (S4, Ariba, Success Factors, et al)
  • Energy/utility industry or in a similar industrial operations production/service environment.
  • Agile certification – Product Owner, Scrum Master
  • Professional certificates
  • Bi-lingual (English-Spanish)

  • Communication Management - The systematic planning, implementing, monitoring, and revision of all the channels of communication within an organization and between organizations.
  • Budget Management - Estimates revenue and expenses over a specified future period of time, and re-evaluates these on a periodic basis.
  • Project Risk Management - The process of identifying, analyzing and responding to any risk that arises over the life cycle of a project to help the project remain on track and meet its goal.
  • Data Analysis - Measuring and managing organization data, identifying methodological best practices and conducting statistical analyses.
  • Project Quality Management - Ensures projects are delivered to an agreed quality.
  • KPI/Metric Monitoring - The monitoring of performance indicators that demonstrate how effectively a company is achieving key business objectives.
  • Product Roadmapping - Maps out the vision and strategic objectives for a product in a visual way, making it easier for development teams to share and collaborate.
