Job Description

As a Senior Infrastructure Systems Engineer, you will implement, support, maintain and manage, whilst continuously improving processes, the diverse range of technologies used across the Business.

Infrastructure Systems are responsible for the lifecycle management of critical compute and storage platforms that underpin our highly demanding products and services. The global environment is varied and complex, incorporating bare metal, virtualized, and containerized Windows and Linux workloads on infrastructure.

In this role, you will take ownership and ensure a prompt and collaborative response to improve monitoring and technical posture of our US datacenters. Working alongside management, you will identify recommendations to enhance the operational efficiency and predictability of our systems.

This is a great opportunity for a passionate, experienced and proactive technical or process specialist to work with diverse technologies making improvements to our visibility and responsiveness in our US estates.

You will be required to provide out of hours support on a rota basis, which may also require occasional weekend in office presence.

The salary range for this position is $85,000-$130,000 annually.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a senior or escalation third line role.
  • Evidence of providing technical SME presence.
  • Proven experience in observing, identifying and providing improvement plans for technology and process.
  • Experience of Linux (Red Hat, and Ubuntu derivatives) or Windows system administration.
  • Experience in the use of virtual infrastructures including using VMware tools.
  • Familiar with enterprise SAN and storage technologies.
  • Experience with backups and associated software and technologies.
  • Fundamental understanding of networking, load balancing, storage and virtualization.
  • Self-motivated investigation and resolution of issues across the systems technology stack.
  • Effective time management, organization and work prioritization to meet deadlines while maintaining excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving, with the ability to work under pressure and be an active communicator on technical issues.

  • Supporting, maintaining, building and managing privately hosted platforms, systems and storage.
  • Defining and enhancing system monitoring using modern tooling and practices.
  • Mentoring and coaching other engineers to transfer knowledge and skill across the team.
  • Participating in an on-call support rota for technical escalation.
