Looking to join a world-class blockchain development team? Ava Labs makes it simple to deploy high-performance solutions for Web3, led by innovations on Avalanche. The company was founded by Cornell computer scientists, who partnered with Wall Street veterans and early Web3 leaders to execute a promising vision for redefining the way people build permissionless networks. Ava Labs is redefining the way people create value with Web3. Join us as we empower people to easily and freely digitize all the world’s assets on one open, programmable blockchain platform.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Infrastructure Cost Management: Analyze and optimize infrastructure spend across AWS, GCP, and OCI environments, ensuring effective cost controls across platforms. Drive cost savings through mechanisms such as savings plans, resource right-sizing, workload scheduling, and other platform-specific levers. Collaborate with engineering and finance teams to align usage with business priorities and hold teams accountable for efficient spending.
  • Cloud Cost Strategy: Your role will be pivotal in controlling one of the company’s most significant operational expenses. By identifying high-impact cost optimizations and enforcing standards for cost-efficient design across the organization, you will directly contribute to the company's financial health, playing a crucial role in our overall success.
  • Business Alignment and Accountability: As a key liaison between the technical and financial aspects of the company, you will partner with finance and department leads to align infrastructure usage with budget expectations. You will translate technical cloud cost data into clear, actionable business terms and drive accountability for spend at the service and team level. Your role will ensure infrastructure investments are connected to business outcomes, not just reported after the fact.
  • Drive Cost Efficiency: Identify and recommend strategies to maximize the value of cloud spending, including defining optimal savings plans, leading negotiations with suppliers, and recommending resource optimization approaches.
  • Financial Modeling: Forecast cloud spend by service and team, monitor budget variance in real time, and proactively flag deviation risks. Support monthly budgeting and cost projection cycles in partnership with Finance.
Collaboration: As a FinOps engineer, you will work closely with engineering teams, Site Reliability Engineers (SREs), and infrastructure project managers. Your role will be to integrate cost awareness into business workflows, fostering a collaborative environment where everyone's efforts contribute to the company's success and where your input is valued and integral to our operations.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
  • BS in Computer Science, Finance, Business, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a FinOps engineer for cloud services, preferably in a senior or lead role.
  • Strong experience managing and optimizing costs in AWS and GCP. Familiarity with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or other cloud environments is preferred, particularly in multi-cloud or hybrid setups.
  • Experience with cloud cost optimization, including savings plans and instance right-sizing.
  • Excellent knowledge of FinOps best practices and frameworks.
  • Understanding of financial principles and budgeting practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are a must, with experience in cloud infrastructure management. Your ability to analyze complex data and solve intricate problems will be crucial in this role. We look forward to seeing how you can apply your expertise to our cloud operations.
  • Experience with data analytics tools: Tableau, Google Looker
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
Salary Range: $158,440 to $188,147
