POSITION SUMMARY:
Milliman is seeking an experienced Senior Graphic Designer to bring sophisticated visual storytelling, strategic creative thinking, and a passion for design excellence to our in-house Brand and Creative team. You will serve as a senior creative voice across multiple business lines, leading complex projects and mentoring junior designers while transforming nuanced concepts into compelling, brand-aligned visuals across digital, print, and event environments. This role is well-suited for a self-directed creative leader who can operate with a high degree of autonomy, contribute to campaign strategy, and elevate the overall quality and consistency of our creative output.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Creative Execution:
- Design and produce marketing and communications materials including presentations, brochures, conference booths, ads, social media graphics, email campaigns, mock-ups, and more
- Develop visual assets using Adobe Creative Cloud, Figma, and Microsoft 365 applications
- Develop and maintain design systems that ensure brand consistency while allowing for creative flexibility
- Lead motion graphics, video editing, and interactive content projects from concept through delivery
- Provide creative direction, quality review, and mentorship to junior designers, elevating team output and fostering professional growth
Brand Stewardship:
- Champion and evolve Milliman's visual identity guidelines across all touchpoints
- Create and refine visual assets for the company's brand portal, digital asset management system, and template libraries
- Develop intuitive, accessible templates that empower non-designers while preserving brand integrity
- Lead and contribute to brand refreshes and integrated campaign development, translating strategic direction into cohesive visual platforms across channels
Collaboration & Communication:
- Partner effectively with creative team, colleagues in marketing department, and business stakeholders to bring ideas to life
- Articulate design decisions and concepts with clear rationale during presentations and reviews
- Drive creative ideation sessions and design critiques, bringing a confident point of view and fostering a culture of creative excellence across cross-functional projects
- Educate non-design colleagues about brand guidelines and design best practices to improve cross-departmental visual literacy
Project Workflow:
- Handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and quality standards
- Track project progress using our project management system (Wrike)
- Follow established file management, version control, and production processes
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field
- The ideal candidate must have 6+ years of graphic design experience in-house or at an agency, with a portfolio demonstrating progression into senior-level creative ownership
- The ideal candidate must have a compelling portfolio demonstrating strong typography, layout, visual hierarchy, and conceptual thinking
- The ideal candidate must have an expert-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Acrobat) and Figma
- The ideal candidate must have a working knowledge of PowerPoint and Word for branded presentations and templates
- Must have an understanding of design principles and visual hierarchy across various formats
- Must have demonstrated experience translating complex data and technical concepts into clear, compelling visual narratives and infographics
- Must have excellent communication skills with ability to explain design concepts to non-designers
- Must be a proactive problem-solver with exceptional time management, keen attention to detail, and quality control
- Curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging design tools, trends, and methodologies
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
- Familiarity with AI-assisted design workflows and generative AI tools as part of an expanded creative toolkit
LOCATION:

COMPENSATION:
The overall salary range for this role is $71,700 - $131,905.
For candidates residing in:
- Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York City, Newark, San Jose, San Francisco, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, or the District of Columbia the salary range is $82,455 - $131,905
- All other locations the salary range is $71,700 - $114,700
A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc.
