Summary
Are you a front end engineer who loves crafting fast, intuitive, and visually polished user experiences? Topstep is looking for a Senior Front End Engineer to own and evolve the client-side experience of our trading platform. In this role, you'll build the interfaces that thousands of active traders rely on every day for real-time trading, market data visualization, and account management.
You'll work primarily in React and TypeScript, building performant, responsive UIs that handle real-time data streams and complex user interactions. This isn't just about shipping features—you'll shape front end architecture decisions, establish UI engineering standards, and ensure our platform delivers a seamless experience as we grow. You'll own your features end-to-end, from component design through production deployment.
This role is ideal for someone who combines strong front end expertise with pragmatic engineering judgment. You'll balance the need for polished, accessible interfaces with the reality of evolving business requirements. You'll contribute to technical strategy, mentor other engineers, and help define what front end engineering excellence means at Topstep.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build high-performance, responsive UI components and features for our trading platform using React and TypeScript.
- Own front end features end-to-end, from technical design through production deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
- Collaborate with product and design to translate user needs and mockups into scalable, maintainable front end solutions.
- Contribute to front end architecture decisions, establishing patterns, component libraries, and practices that other teams can follow.
- Write clean, well-tested code with a strong focus on performance, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility.
- Participate in on-call rotations, respond to incidents, and drive continuous improvement of front end reliability.
- Build and maintain observability into your features through error tracking, performance monitoring, and logging.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing sessions, and sharing knowledge about front end best practices and design patterns.
- Balance technical debt with feature delivery, making thoughtful trade-offs based on business priorities and technical constraints.
- Contribute to engineering culture through documentation, tooling improvements, and process refinements.
