The ideal candidate will be based on the East Coast or in Canada to ensure alignment with a development team located in Europe.

About the Role:

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Engineering Manager to lead our web development team as we scale our suite of SaaS products. This leadership role requires a strong balance of technical acumen, strategic thinking, and people management. You will be responsible for driving the engineering roadmap, ensuring high-quality code delivery, mentoring a remote team, and fostering a culture of innovation, especially as we integrate cutting-edge AI technologies into our products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Team Leadership & Management

    • Lead, mentor, and grow a distributed team of 6+ talented web engineers.

    • Act as a product thought leader and liaison between engineering and product teams

    • Drive employee engagement, motivation, and career development through regular feedback and coaching.

    • Recruit top-tier talent and help shape the engineering culture of a fast-paced startup.

  • Technical Oversight

    • Provide technical direction across web development initiatives using technologies such as Ruby (on Rails), JavaScript, React, and other modern web stacks.

    • Collaborate with Product, Design, QA, and other stakeholders to deliver high-impact, scalable solutions under tight startup timelines.

  • Startup Mentality - Innovation & AI Integration

    • Spearhead efforts to build and ship innovative features powered by artificial intelligence.

    • Guide the team in prototyping, evaluating, and implementing AI-driven enhancements that improve user experience and operational efficiency.

    • Bring an iterative, MVP-first approach that suits startup speed and constraints.

  • Project & Process Management

    • Design, define, and roll out the processes around new and existing initiatives

    • Own the full software development lifecycle—from design and requirements gathering to development, testing, deployment, and post-launch support.

    • Ensure best practices in Agile/Scrum methodologies, including sprint planning, retrospectives, and cross-functional coordination.

  • Operational Excellence

    • Set clear engineering KPIs and ensure on-time delivery without compromising code quality or system reliability.

    • Optimize workflows and eliminate bottlenecks in collaboration with DevOps and QA.

Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of professional experience building and launching production-grade software in SaaS or similar high-scale industries.

  • 3+ years demonstrating success managing remote teams (5+ engineers) in dynamic, international and fast-moving environments.

  • Proven experience working in high-growth startup environments

  • Strong portfolio of shipped web applications with significant AI-driven features or tooling.

  • Expertise in modern web development technologies, including Ruby on Rails, React, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern CI/CD workflows.

  • Deep understanding of software architecture, AI/ML, API design, and scalable systems.

  • Proven experience in driving complex engineering projects from idea to execution.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).

  • Excellent communication skills, with a knack for cross-functional collaboration.

How We'll Take Care of You:
  • Base Salary Band: $188,000 to $255,000

  • Flexible, fully remote environment
