What We’re Building
Honeycomb is a service for the near and present future, defining observability and raising expectations of what developer tools can do! We’re working with well known companies like HelloFresh, Slack, LaunchDarkly, and Vanguard and more across a range of industries. This is an exciting time in our trajectory, we’ve closed Series D funding, scaled past the 200-person mark, and were named to Forbes’ America’s Best Startups of 2022 and 2023!

If you want to see what we’ve been up to, please check out these blog posts and Honeycomb.io press releases.

Who We Are
We come for the impact, and stay for the culture! We’re a talented, opinionated, passionate, fiercely inclusive, and responsible group of bees. We have conviction and we strive to live our values every day. We want our people to do what they truly love amongst a team of highly talented (but humble) peers.

How We Work
We are a fully distributed company, which means we believe it is not where you sit, but how you deliver that matters most. We invest in our people and care about how you orient to our culture and processes. At the same time we imbue a lot of trust, autonomy, and accountability from Day 1. #LI-Remote

Little more about the team:

The Engineering Enablement team is all about equipping Honeycomb to innovate quickly and safely. It gives engineers fast, reliable feedback loops at every stage of the software development lifecycle through cohesive, forward-thinking tooling and platform — so that as our organization scales and our product evolves, both human developers and AI agents can keep shipping with confidence.

Our biggest current bet is Autobots, a centralized platform of autonomous agents that participate reliably, safely, and securely in Honeycomb's engineering workflows. The premise is that trust is the binding constraint: agents that fail visibly and earn trust on small work get invited into bigger work, and every run produces telemetry that compounds the platform's capability over time. Alongside Autobots, the team owns the foundations that make this possible: CI/CD pipelines (CircleCI, RWX, Namespace, GitHub Actions), testing health in JS and Go, shared dependency management, developer tooling (linters, TypeScript, build/run, internal OTel adoption, feature flags), and web performance. The Engineering Enablement team is proactively re-enforcing and automating Honeycomb’s own curiosity loop for both humans and agents.

You can read more about what the team’s been up to on the Honeycomb blog, like how they virtualized data sets last year.

What you'll do
  • Own the developer feedback loops — the CI/CD, testing, dependency management, and tooling that let the whole org ship faster and more safely.
  • Lead AI-partnered development — incubate what the next chapter of AI-assisted engineering looks like at Honeycomb, for both human engineers and agents, and how observability plays into it.
  • Prove the ROI — define and track the developer-productivity and satisfaction metrics that give leadership confidence in the team's impact.
  • Lead change across the org — bring engineers inside and outside your team along, helping them welcome change rather than resist it.
  • Grow the team — support engineers and your manager community First Team through 1:1s, career development, and feedback loops.
What we're looking for
  • Sustained, multi-year experience leading an engineering enablement / developer-experience team — enough tenure in prior roles to have steered large-scale change over time.
  • Fluency in CI/CD.
  • A track record of defining and tracking developer-productivity / ROI metrics — you can stand up the metrics program, not just consume it.
  • Cross-org change leadership — ideally having led an organization through a major workflow change or AI rollout.
  • Real depth with AI tooling.
  • The ability to distinguish good from bad AI usage, and to articulate your own AI philosophy.
  • Familiarity with observability / OpenTelemetry (Honeycomb's domain).
  • Experience running internal platform or tooling as a "product," with internal engineers as your customers.

Bonus points

  • You're still hands-on and enjoy contributing to and reviewing code (welcome, but it won't be your primary role here).
  • You've built your own AI-driven projects and tools.
Base Salary based on level of experience
$208,260$234,000 USD

  • It’s not about how strong of a negotiator you are - our pay is based on transparent levels relative to experience
  • Time to recharge with unlimited PTO
  • A distributed-first mindset and culture (really!)
  • Home office, co-working, and internet stipend
  • Full benefits coverage for employees, with additional coverage available for dependents
  • Up to 16 weeks of paid parental leave, regardless of path to parenthood
  • Annual development allowance
  • And much more...

We recognize that there is no single path to success and embrace nontraditional career journeys and diverse perspectives as key to building stronger, more innovative teams.

We strive to ensure an inclusive experience throughout every stage of our hiring process and are happy to provide reasonable accommodations as needed. If you require accommodations or accessible formats at any point during our hiring process, please let your recruiter know.
