About the role

The Senior Director, People Partners leads Riot’s People Partner team, driving business impact through strategic HR partnership. This role oversees a team of People Partners, each assigned to an internal client group, and ensures the function delivers proactive, data-driven, and scalable solutions that fuel Riot’s growth and culture. In addition, this role and its team are responsible for employee relations, employee engagement, and performance management. In partnership with the SVP, People Operations and Senior Director, Talent Management, this will synthesis information for Riot’s annual talent review process.

Essential Functions
Strategic Leadership and Team Development

·  Lead the evolution of the People Partner function from tactical support to strategic, business-aligned partnership.

·  Develop, coach, and scale a team of high-impact People Partners, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation.

·  Establish operating rhythms, standards, and expectations that support consistent, high-quality delivery.

 Business Partnership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

·  Partner proactively with senior leaders to translate business goals into people strategies that drive performance, growth, and innovation.

·  Collaborate with Centers of Excellence (Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, Talent Management) to deliver integrated people programs.

 Employee Relations Strategy

·  Oversee employee relations strategy, ensuring fair, consistent, and legally compliant approach across the organization.

·  Establish guidelines for documentation, escalation, and resolution while empowering People Partners to manage cases effectively.

·  Use ER insights to inform leadership and shape proactive organizational interventions.

·  Serve as an escalation point for sensitive cases and guide the team in building a positive, inclusive workplace.

 Employee Experience, Culture, and Engagement

·  Champion Riot’s culture of accountability and performance, ensuring People Partners reinforce these expectations across the business.

·  Lead initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, leadership capability, and organizational health.

·  Use people data, feedback insights, and trends to identify opportunities to elevate the employee experience and drive retention.

 Organizational Development & Change Leadership

· Partner with executives to assess organizational needs and recommended org design solutions that support agility, capability, and growth.

·  Lead or support change management efforts tied to organizational transformation development initiatives to optimize structure, capability, and agility.

·  Ensure People Partners are equipped to guide leaders through org changes with consistency and clarity.

 Performance Management & Leadership Effectiveness

· Oversee the continuous improvement and adoption of Riot’s performance management practices, ensuring alignment to business objectives and expectations for accountability.

· Partner with leaders and People Partners to promote strong performance, clear expectations, and effective feedback across the organization.

· Collaborate with the Talent Management & Total Rewards team to ensure performance outcomes inform development, compensation, and succession planning.

 Talent Review & Workforce Insight

· Provide leadership with insights on high-potential talent, bench strength, and future leadership needs.

· Ensure People Partner recommendations are grounded in data and aligned to organizational competencies, values, and annual goals.

· Partner with the SVP, People Operations and the Senior Director, Talent Management to shape Riot’s annual talent review process.

 Data-Driven Decision Making

·  Leverage people analytics to inform and guide business and talent strategies.

·  Identify key People Partner effectiveness metrics and ensure they evolve with business needs.

·  Translate trends and insights into actionable recommendations for senior leadership.

 Role responsibilities may shift as Riot’s business grows; this role is expected to lead through change, adjust scope as needed, and ensure the People Partner team is aligned to evolving organizational priorities.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, Finance, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a senior HR business partner or People Partner leadership role.
    • Proven success building, leading, or transforming a high-impact HR Business Partner function in a fast-scaling, complex organization.
    • Experience coaching and developing HRBPs/People Partners to increase their strategic influence.
    • Experience supporting global workforces and navigating ambiguity in high-growth environments.
    • Experience transforming an HR/People Partner function during period of rapid change or scaling.

 

  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Expertise in employee relations, engagement, organizational development, and performance management.
    • Strong business acumen and ability to translate business needs into HR strategies.
    • Data-driven mindset; ability to use analytics to shape talent strategies and measure impact.
    • Superior communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, with executive presence.
    • Ability to navigate ambiguity and lead with clarity in a fast-moving environment.

Compensation and Benefits 

  • $170,000-180,000 base salary commensurate with experience
