Position Summary
The Senior Director, Global Logistics leads the global logistics organization and is accountable for the safe, compliant, reliable, and cost-effective movement and storage of products across the distribution network, including company-managed distribution centers, 3PL/4PL operations, and global transportation. This role provides strategic and operational leadership for warehousing, transportation, and distribution while establishing common standards, performance measures, and governance across regions. Reporting to the VP, Global Customer Delivery, the Senior Director partners with Planning, Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality, Commercial, Information Technology, and regional teams to improve customer delivery, inventory accuracy, productivity, and cost. This leader develops logistics talent and capabilities and drives continuous improvement across the network.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the global logistics strategy, including distribution network design, warehousing, transportation, and 3PL/4PL operations, aligned with company and customer priorities.
- Lead company-managed and third-party warehouse/distribution operations and global transportation, with accountability for service, cost, productivity, quality, safety, inventory accuracy, capacity, and delivery performance.
- Establish common logistics standards, governance, operating procedures, performance measures, and management routines across the global network.
- Use data and key performance indicators to identify gaps, prioritize opportunities, and drive measurable, sustained improvements in on-time delivery, cycle time, capacity, utilization, cost, and customer service.
- Own carrier and logistics-provider performance; partner with Procurement on sourcing, contracting, capacity, and contingency coverage.
- Partner with Planning, Manufacturing, Customer Delivery, Commercial, Quality, and regional teams to resolve logistics issues impacting customers, support product launches and network changes, and improve end-to-end execution.
- Ensure logistics activities comply with applicable quality requirements, trade and customs requirements, security standards, environmental health and safety expectations, and company policies and procedures.
- Lead logistics risk management and business continuity planning, including assessment of capacity, supplier, lane, facility, geopolitical, and other operational risks.
- Drive process standardization, automation, systems improvements, and effective use of ERP, warehouse management, transportation management, and analytics tools in partnership with Information Technology.
- Develop annual operating plans, budgets, resource plans, and productivity roadmaps; manage performance to financial commitments and identify opportunities to reduce waste and total logistics cost.
- Build, lead, coach, and develop a high-performing global organization, including leaders of teams, with clear expectations, accountability, succession planning, and capability development.
- Lead warehouse startups, site transfers, and 3PL/4PL implementations through operational readiness, cutover, and stabilization.
- Work on special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills
- Extensive knowledge of global transportation, warehousing, distribution, inventory control, and 3PL/4PL operations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex, multi-site logistics operations and deliver measurable improvements in service, quality, cost, and productivity.
- Strong knowledge of logistics performance management, network design, carrier management, provider governance, and continuous improvement methods.
- Working knowledge of regulated-industry quality systems and applicable global trade, customs, security, and transportation requirements.
- Experience with ERP and supply chain technologies, including warehouse management systems, transportation management systems, automation, and analytics; Oracle experience preferred.
- Strong financial and business acumen, including budgeting, business-case development, cost-to-serve analysis, contract economics, and productivity planning.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, change management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to influence across functions, business units, and regions, including teams and partners that do not directly report to the role.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, global environment while balancing customer service, compliance, risk, and cost priorities.
Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in supply chain, logistics, operations, business, engineering, or a related field is required; advanced degree preferred.
- 12+ years of progressive experience in logistics, supply chain, distribution, or operations, including significant leadership responsibility.
- Experience leading global or multi-regional transportation, warehousing, distribution, and third-party logistics operations.
- Experience directly leading global or multi-regional transportation, warehousing, distribution, and 3PL/4PL operations, including company-operated facilities.
- Experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or another regulated industry preferred.
- Lean, Six Sigma, APICS, CSCMP, or equivalent professional certification preferred.
Work Environment
- This is largely a sedentary role.
- This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.
- The role may require visits to warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing sites, and third-party logistics facilities. While in operational environments, the employee must follow site-specific safety, security, and personal protective equipment requirements.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
Travel Requirements
- Typically requires travel 20-50% of the time.

This role is based remotely; the incumbent may be remote in any state other than Colorado; California; Connecticut; Montana, Maine or New York.
