Build Your Future With Us
The digitization of tax compliance is fundamentally changing global commerce and how businesses need to operate and grow. Governments now have real-time visibility into business data, creating new challenges and new opportunities for organizations around the world. At Sovos, we're transforming tax compliance from a business requirement into a driver of growth through AI-powered technology that delivers the accurate, real-time insights businesses need to make smarter decisions.
We're solving more than today's tax compliance challenges. We're helping reshape global economies by enabling organizations to navigate increasingly complex and rapidly changing regulatory environments with confidence – and helping communities thrive.
AI is accelerating what's possible, enabling tax and technology professionals to more effectively drive critical regulatory decisions. That's where Sovos excels, combining intelligent technology with human expertise to help customers stay ahead of change.
Don't worry if you don't check every box. We're focused on hiring great people, not perfect resumes. It's less about what you've done elsewhere and more about what you're capable of doing here.
The Role
At Sovos, we're looking for a Senior Consultant to join our Unclaimed Property consulting group. In this role, you'll work alongside senior leaders to help clients navigate unclaimed property compliance, reduce liability, and meet evolving state requirements. You'll combine analytical rigor with client-facing expertise to deliver meaningful outcomes for a diverse range of clients.
More specifically, you will:
- Partner with senior leaders and clients to manage state unclaimed property risk assessments, Voluntary Disclosure Agreements, and audits.
- Review client records, general ledgers, and trial balances to identify and quantify areas of potential noncompliance and risk, documenting findings in clear, structured formats.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and Senior Reviewers to develop strategies that mitigate potential liabilities and improve compliance outcomes.
- Analyze and quantify unclaimed property populations by property type using Sovos proprietary software (UPE, UPET, UPRT) and leverage AI tools to streamline data analysis and reporting workflows.
- Prepare, track, and submit due diligence letters and state compliance reports, ensuring accuracy through quality control review.
- Maintain organized work paper files, document client meetings and interviews, and provide timely updates on project status and budget considerations.
- Contribute to team development by training new employees on client-specific workflows and industry tools, and participate in ongoing learning to deepen your expertise in unclaimed property and information security.
What You Bring to Sovos
- You have experience conducting compliance assessments, analyzing financial records, and managing client engagements in unclaimed property or a related compliance domain.
- Background in accounting, finance, or related field through degree or equivalent experience.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple client engagements and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills - you can translate complex compliance issues into clear, actionable guidance.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, and comfort with AI-assisted workflows and emerging compliance technologies.
- Ability to read and interpret state unclaimed property requirements, think creatively to solve client challenges, and work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Due to client contractual obligations, the successful candidate will be asked to clear a background check and drug test upon hire.
