Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Benefits Consultant to manage and support a portfolio of employee benefits clients. This role partners closely with internal team members to deliver customized benefit strategies, manage complex renewals, and provide consultative guidance that supports client goals. The ideal candidate is a trusted advisor with advanced employee benefits knowledge, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to develop solutions focused on cost containment, compliance, communication, and long-term benefit strategy. This position plays a key role in driving client retention, identifying growth opportunities, mentoring team members, and delivering an exceptional client experience.

Work Arrangement: This is a hybrid position (2 days in office and 3 days remote) reporting to our office in Denver, CO.

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to clients by providing ongoing guidance, benefit planning, and consultative support throughout the client relationship.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, carriers, vendor partners, and internal team members to support effective benefit strategies.
  • Lead renewal strategy and execution, including pre-renewal meetings, plan analysis, benchmarking, claims review, negotiations, and renewal recommendations.
  • Deliver comprehensive renewal presentations that outline plan options, cost considerations, and strategic solutions aligned with client objectives.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for complex client needs, providing timely resolution and coordinating internal resources as appropriate.
  • Partner with Benefit Analysts and Benefit Advocates to manage client service activities, renewal timelines, claims analysis, employee communications, and proactive account strategies.
  • Educate clients on benefit-related compliance requirements, regulatory updates, reporting obligations, and industry best practices.
  • Identify opportunities for cost containment, plan enhancements, cross-selling, and additional solutions that support client needs.
  • Conduct employee open enrollment meetings, webinars, and educational sessions to support employee understanding and engagement.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of client meetings, communications, follow-up items, and account activity within agency systems.
  • Lead internal strategy meetings with account teams to discuss client priorities, renewals, service needs, and ongoing initiatives.
  • Support team development by sharing knowledge, providing guidance, and contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team environment.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in employee benefits consulting, sales, account management, or a related client-facing role within the employee benefits insurance industry.
  • Active Colorado Life & Health insurance license required.
  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of employee benefits programs, including self-funded plans, level-funded plans, medical captives, pharmacy solutions, ancillary benefits, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience presenting medical, prescription drug, and ancillary product analyses, including plan design, pricing strategies, and contract details to clients.
  • Proven ability to build strong client relationships, identify business needs, and deliver customized benefit solutions.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex scenarios.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex benefit concepts clearly.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple clients, deadlines, and priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, benefit administration systems, CRM platforms, and other client management tools.
  • Experience mentoring or developing team members within an employee benefits agency environment preferred.
  • Registered Employee Benefits Consultant (REBC) certification or other employee benefits designation preferred.
