Launch Your Next Successful Chapter with Veta Virtual! 🚀

Are you an experienced accountant with a strong grasp of U.S. accounting practices and the mindset to thrive in a fast-moving construction environment? Veta Virtual is hiring a Senior Accountant for one of our clients in the Roofing and Construction industry, including work on some federally funded projects. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong accounting expertise with the ability to adapt to the realities of a growing construction business.
🔑 Your Role:

As a Senior Accountant, you'll play a critical role in supporting the company's accounting operations across residential, commercial, and federally funded roofing and construction projects. You will oversee accounting workflows, ensure compliance with U.S. standards, and deliver financial insights that help leadership make sound decisions. This is a hands-on role where you'll manage job costing, implement tools, and optimize accounting processes in a fully remote, fast-paced environment.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the full accounting cycle for the company's roofing and construction operations, including reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting.
  • Applying job costing and work-in-progress (WIP) principles to track project profitability across multiple active jobs simultaneously.
  • Supporting percentage-of-completion revenue recognition and progress billing across residential, commercial, and federal projects.
  • Making sound financial judgments in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
  • Integrating and optimizing external applications with QuickBooks Online to streamline accounting operations.
  • Overseeing accounts payable/receivable, expense management, subcontractor payments, and vendor/client interactions.
  • Supporting compliance requirements related to federally funded projects as needed, including certified payroll and prevailing wage documentation — training will be provided if this is new to you.
  • Leveraging tools such as QuickBooks Online, Slack, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Zoom, and Google Drive daily, with the opportunity to work with Bill.com, ClickUp, Gusto, and Ramp.
  • Staying current on emerging technologies and AI applications that can enhance accounting efficiency.

    What You'll Need:

    Core Technical & Mindset Requirements

    • 3–5 years of accounting experience with U.S.-based companies (CPA certification preferred).
    • Proven success managing external stakeholders, ideally from a public accounting, client-facing, or construction accounting environment.
    • Strong knowledge of construction or job-costed accounting practices, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities across multiple active projects.
    • Experience making informed financial judgments in fast-paced, growing business settings.
    • Familiarity with federal or government-funded project accounting (such as certified payroll, prevailing wage, or DCAA-related compliance) is a strong plus — not required. The client is open to training the right candidate on these requirements.

    Tech Stack Proficiency

    • Essential: QuickBooks Online (QBO), Slack, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Zoom, Google Meet, Google Drive.
    • Highly desirable: Bill.com, ClickUp, Gusto, Ramp.
    • Experience integrating external applications with QuickBooks Online.
    • Bonus: familiarity with construction-specific job costing or project management software (such as JobNimbus, AccuLynx, or similar).
    • Awareness of AI use cases in accounting (a plus).

    Soft Skills for Remote Success

    • Full professional fluency in English (written & verbal), with the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly to non-finance professionals like project managers and field teams.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills across digital channels, with a habit of providing clear context in asynchronous updates.
    • Proactive, solutions-oriented self-starter with excellent time management, organization, and independent problem-solving skills.
    • High sense of ownership, openness to feedback, and adaptability to changing priorities in a remote, fast-growing environment.
    • Integrity, curiosity, and a strong bias toward action.
    • To be considered for this role, you must be currently based in Latin America (LATAM) or Europe.

    💼 What We Offer:

    • 💸 Competitive salary in USD, based on experience.
    • 🌴 10 paid vacation days per year, plus all U.S. national holidays.
    • 💻 Fully remote role — work from anywhere with a professional home setup.
    • 📈 A fast-paced environment with opportunities to learn, grow, and make an impact in the booming roofing and construction industry.
    • 🤝 A supportive, collaborative culture through Veta Virtual and our client.
