The Scheduler/Planner is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing the Master Production Schedule (MPS) to ensure customer orders are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards. This role coordinates production schedules, labor capacity, material availability, and manufacturing priorities by working closely with Customer Service, Engineering, Purchasing, Materials, Inventory, and Operations.

The Scheduler/Planner proactively identifies capacity constraints, adjusts production schedules to accommodate changing business needs, supports Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP), and drives continuous improvement initiatives that improve manufacturing efficiency, inventory performance, and on-time delivery.

  • Develop, maintain, and execute the Master Production Schedule (MPS) to meet customer delivery requirements while optimizing labor, equipment, and material resources.
  • Coordinate production schedules based on customer orders, sales forecasts, material availability, production capacity, and manufacturing priorities.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Customer Service, Engineering, Product Line Management, Purchasing, Inventory Control, Materials Planning, and Operations to ensure timely order fulfillment.
  • Conduct daily production scheduling meetings with Operations to review production priorities, new orders, schedule changes, and manufacturing constraints.
  • Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as necessary to respond to changing customer requirements, material shortages, equipment downtime, or capacity limitations.
  • Analyze production capacity and recommend overtime, staffing adjustments, or schedule modifications to support customer commitments.
  • Maintain accurate planning data, routings, lead times, work centers, and capacity information within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP/MRP) system.
  • Coordinate with Materials Planning, Purchasing, Kitting, and Inventory Control to ensure material availability aligns with production schedules.
  • Monitor production performance, schedule attainment, backlog, inventory levels, and on-time delivery metrics, recommending improvements when needed.
  • Establish and communicate production lead times for standard and engineered products.
  • Expedite production and material shortages by coordinating cross-functional solutions to minimize schedule disruptions.
  • Develop and maintain Kanban systems and inventory replenishment strategies for raw materials, work-in-process, semi-finished goods, and finished goods.
  • Support new product introductions, engineering changes, and product transitions through effective production planning.
  • Prepare production schedules, planning reports, and operational metrics for management.
  • Participate in Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) activities by providing production capacity and scheduling information.
  • Identify opportunities to improve production planning, scheduling processes, inventory management, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Support and comply with all company safety, environmental, and quality policies.
  • Maintain regular and dependable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
