Research Intern

This role exists to provide hands‑on research and technical support to Nexa Research activities within Cochlear, contributing to exploratory development, analysis, and documentation efforts. The role operates at a departmental level within Research & Development, has a regional scope aligned to the US team, and supports functional outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support research and development activities by completing assigned analysis, programming, testing, and documentation tasks within established processes and tools, under guidance from the manager and team members.
  • Apply technical and analytical skills to assist with experimental setup, data analysis, and validation activities, consulting regularly with mentors and cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Document work clearly and accurately by preparing technical notes, summaries, and supporting materials that enable knowledge sharing and continuity within the team.

Key Requirements

  • Undergraduate or graduate coursework in engineering, science, or a related technical discipline or equivalent practical experience
  • Basic programming or scripting skills (Python and/or MATLAB)
  • Data analysis or signal processing fundamentals
  • Ability to follow technical procedures and documentation standards
  • Problem‑solving and analytical thinking
  • Written and verbal communication skills

Total Rewards

  • Target Salary Rate: $20.00/hr

Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus. The individual is regularly required to utilize comprehension, critical thinking, communication, problem solving, organization reasoning, relating to others and discernment of items such as product specifications, procedures and processes to customers (whether internal or external).  Influence, organization/classification of information and planning are also required.

The work environment is an office environment. This is representative of the environment an individual may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.
