Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Release Manager - Agile Software Delivery is responsible for planning, executing, and finalizing software releases within the IT department, primarily utilizing Agile methodologies. This role involves close collaboration with development teams, product managers, and business stakeholders to ensure smooth and timely deployment of software. The Release Manager will leverage agile delivery tools including Atlassian Jira and Confluence to track release readiness and report on the progress of releases and manage defects. This role plays a critical part in supporting and implementing projects for the DISH and Boost Mobile brands at EchoStar.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of software releases using Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, or hybrid approaches)
  • Utilize agile project management tools to track release progress, manage dependencies, and generate reports
  • Collaborate with product owners and business stakeholders to define release scope, goals, and deliverables
  • Develop and maintain release plans, timelines, and communication strategies
  • Identify and manage release risks and issues, escalating as necessary
  • Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, testing, and infrastructure for successful deployments
  • Ensure defects are being addressed and resolved in a timely manner prior to release
  • Provide regular release status updates to stakeholders
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance Agile release processes and delivery efficiency

Skills, Experience and Requirements
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Prefer at least 2 years of Release Management experience, preferably in software delivery using an Agile or hybrid Agile methodology
  • Working knowledge of IT systems, Agile, and SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle)
  • Experience with Atlassian Jira for release tracking and defect management
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to interact effectively with IT management, software development teams, test teams, and infrastructure teams
  • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of release management

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Excellent negotiation and facilitation skills with an ability to gain consensus
  • Effectively able to consult with customers at a business level
  • Ability to translate and communicate a customer's strategic opportunities into requirements for the technical teams
  • Excellent written and presentation skills and data driven decision-making skills
  • Facilitates solutions in a complex IT technology and business environment and is able to adapt quickly to change
  • Effectively manages customer expectations throughout the release implementation and delivery process
  • Equally comfortable working with teams in a lead and participative capacity with many different and diverse stakeholders
  • Formal knowledge of Release management principles, processes, and tools
  • Experience with Agile Project Management Tools

Salary Ranges
Compensation: $72,400.00/Year - $103,400.00/Year

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
