The Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the revenue cycle to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant billing and reimbursement processes. This role provides leadership to revenue cycle teams, develops operational strategies, monitors key performance metrics, and partners with internal and external stakeholders to maximize revenue while maintaining exceptional service quality and regulatory compliance.

The RCM Manager plays a critical role in optimizing financial performance by improving operational efficiencies, reducing accounts receivable, and ensuring adherence to payer, client, and organizational requirements.

Duties/Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day operations of assigned Revenue Cycle Management functions, including but not limited to:

  • Daily work allocation
  • Inventory Dashboard Management.
  • Monitor departmental productivity, quality, accuracy, turnaround times, and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop supervisors and team members to achieve departmental goals.
  • Prepare operational reports for senior leadership.
  • Identify trends impacting productivity performance and implement corrective action plans.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve consistency and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS guidelines, payer regulations, and company policies.
  • Partner with clients, operations leaders, and cross-functional departments to resolve escalated issues.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and professional development.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, workload distribution, and resource planning.
  • Participate in client meetings and present operational performance and improvement initiatives.
  • Drive continuous process improvement initiatives through data analysis and workflow optimization.
  • Support implementation of new clients, system enhancements, and process transitions as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 
Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Experience with multiple EMR/EHR and Practice Management systems.
  • CPC, CPB, CRCR, or other relevant healthcare certifications preferred.
  • Experience working with commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care payers.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Advanced knowledge of revenue cycle KPIs and financial reporting.
  • Ability to interpret data and make strategic business recommendations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong customer service and relationship management skills.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to confidentiality.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Required Experience
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in Revenue Cycle Management.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of leadership or management experience.
  • Experience managing healthcare billing operations in a physician practice, hospital, or healthcare outsourcing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of medical billing, insurance reimbursement, payer guidelines, and revenue cycle workflows.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
  • Ability to travel periodically based on business needs.
