The Marketing & Communications Project Manager is a critical driver within the Project Management Office (PMO), responsible for managing large, complex initiatives with limited oversight. This individual serves as a strategic partner, independently guiding projects from ideation through execution while ensuring alignment with overarching program and business goals.

At this level, this role moves beyond task execution to true project ownership. The Project Manager is expected to make well-reasoned recommendations, anticipate and neutralize risks, and build strong cross-functional partnerships. This position is ideal for an experienced project management professional who thrives in ambiguity, excels at stakeholder communication, and is ready to deliver comprehensive results that impact the broader Village.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management & Execution (Accountability & Complexity)

  • Independently manage large or complex projects and processes, driving them to successful completion with limited oversight.
  • Define project scope, schedules, deliverables, and resource requirements, translating ambiguous requests into actionable work plans.
  • Deliver consistently on goals for assigned projects by making well-reasoned recommendations to keep work moving forward.
  • Actively monitor progress, identify dependencies, and proactively neutralize risks or roadblocks before they impact project timelines.

Stakeholder Coordination & Communication (Influence & Emotional Intelligence)

  • Build and maintain strong partnerships across peer groups and cross-functional teams to drive results.
  • Collaborate directly with lane leaders and key stakeholders to align on project objectives and secure buy-in.
  • Consistently and effectively communicate project progress, insights, and results to stakeholders at various levels.
  • Facilitate effective meetings, leading discussions that add strategic value and drive actionable decisions.

Operational Support & Continuous Improvement (Analytical Thinking & Subject Matter Expertise)

  • Garner insights from both objective and subjective data sources, developing and implementing action plans to improve project outcomes and team workflows.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert with a comprehensive understanding of project management methodologies within the functional area.
  • Drive adoption of PMO standards, frameworks, and tools (e.g., Smartsheet, Asana) to ensure consistency and scalability across the team.

Collaboration & Leadership (Taking Ownership & Values Alignment)

  • Prioritize and delegate work effectively, holding project teams and self accountable for the accuracy, quality, and timeliness of deliverables.
  • Model DaVita’s Core Values and belonging behaviors in all work, actively investing in team culture and Village programming.
  • Share knowledge and best practices to help upskill peers and support the overall maturity of the PMO.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Marketing, Communications, Business, Organizational Leadership) or equivalent experience.
  • 4–6+ years of proven experience in project management, marketing/communications operations, or a related field.

  • Experience working with complex, cross-functional teams to drive success metrics forward.
  • Experience managing budgets and driving toward target dollars.
  • High proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Smartsheet, Asana) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for both working teams and leadership.
  • Strong emotional intelligence with the ability to navigate ambiguity and influence without formal authority.

Preferred

  • Active project/program management certifications (e.g., PMP).
  • Experience operating within a highly matrixed corporate environment.
