Program Background

NXGB began as a $150M+ multi‑year IRAD flight demonstration of an affordable, producible, intermediate‑range boost‑glide hypersonic vehicle. It is a Lockheed Martin (LM) Space Key Investment (KI) and one of the Top 10 Priority Captures for 2026. The portfolio now includes a new SHY CRAD contract with a second flight opportunity. The program expects downstream Engineering, Manufacturing, and Development (EMD) + Production phases beyond that. The IRAD effort is moving toward Critical Design Review (CDR) and AI&T, while the SHY effort will start with a design phase to incorporate new technology for TI-27.
