The Project Controller, acting with transparency, prudency, reliability and traceability, is the primary person responsible for the planning, monitoring and controlling the performance of Projects including but not limited to ensuring that the project is completed within the time schedule, budget and the terms of the Contract. The Project Controller will report to the CFO, will have the responsibility of anticipating, identifying and promptly reporting any variances from the plan in terms of time, costs or terms and is expected to come up with the corrective actions to safeguard TAKRAF from the related impact of such variances. In addition, the Project Controller is expected to review the progress with a professional and independent view on the financial status and the long term outlook of the project, especially identifying risks well in advance so that the company can implement actions to neutralize or at least mitigate them.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • To develop and maintain accurate Project Budgets and Cash Flow Plans in line with the contract and in close coordination with the Sales team and Project Management .
  • Prepare the Billing Schedule and Cash Flow projection together with the PM for the Project in line with the Contract signed with the Customer.
  • Monitor together with the Project Manager to ensure the correctness and conformity to the Budget, Committed Costs and costs to be committed and inform the Management about any potential risks throughout the whole life of the project.
  • Proactively identify and communicate potential risks in terms of timelines and costs to Management and advise the PM to plan the activities to avoid those potential risks.
  • Review WBS wise actual costs with the Budget on a regular basis and advise the PM and to update the Management about the potential risk of costs overruns and come up with mitigative proposals or corrective actions.
  • Prepare Project Status Reports, Building Block Reports for the monthly review of Management.
  • Liaison with TAKRAF Group Project Controlling and Head of Group Risk and facilitate their review of project performance and potential ups and downs.
  • In the case of Contracts involving multiple units of TAKRAF Group, the PRC must coordinate with the counterparts of such companies to ensure that overall, the interest of TAKRAF Group is safeguarded in the execution of the Contract and should be willing to travel if need be.
  • Coordinate with the PM and ensure that the timelines for contractual milestones and deliveries are met as per schedule and there are no possibilities of LDs on contract or customer claims.
  • Ensure the revenue recognition requirements are met so that TAKRAF does not miss on recognizing costs and the related revenues.
  • Ensure that the execution of the contract from the start complies with the TAKRAF policies, the Contract with the Customer and the Accounting Standards.
  • Support the CFO with timely information for TAKRAF’s Budgeting and quarterly Economics and Financials Forecasting activities.
  • Support the Audit activities with timely supply of information on project activities.
  • Regular review of activities and contract documents including the Contract, Open Purchase Orders, Vendor Invoices to detect and avoid costs duplication, cost over runs and avoidable costs.
  • To ensure the validity of Bank Guarantees from the Vendors on a regular basis and to ensure compliance with Back-to-back procedure wherever applicable.
  • Supply of information and suggestion to the Management in the case of a contractual dispute with the Customer.
  • To ensure that the Billing to the customer is in line with the billing schedule.
  • Work with the project manager to assist with the preparation and tracking of potential claims for additional work and assist with the preparation and processing of contract Change Orders.
  • Review and track project related Requests for Information (RFI), Change Orders, Invoices, and Change Management Log.
  • Co-ordinate with Procurement and review the activities to ensure that the Costs of procuring is in line with the Budget for all relevant items and confirming to the set standards.
  • Review and closely work with Project Team to avoid any inaccuracies or possible misinterpretations in the Project reporting.
  • Assist in proposal stage the sales team to provide expertise of previous projects and to support in proposal preparation process relating to economical/financial aspects.
  • Perform additional assignments, as directed by management.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education:

Either an Engineering Postgraduate or Graduate with an aptitude for Finance and Cost controlling with 10-15 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of acceptable accounting principles and practices.

Or a Finance Postgraduate or Graduate with an aptitude for Project Costing and Cost Control with 10-15 years of related experience.

Experience:

 10-15 years’ experience preferably Bulk material handling and/or surface mining systems industries.

in an international or engineering organization.

Tracking complex EP and EPC projects with a budget of at least $10 million from award through commissioning and acceptance.

Knowledge of the project structure in a client/supplier business environment.

Knowledge of budgeting and scheduling.  A thorough knowledge of standard contract terms, including hourly, lumps sum, not-to-exceed and how they are applied in the billing process.

Knowledge of contract law and regulations

Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills

Ability to draft contractual agreements and clauses

Computer Skills:

Proficiency in MS Office

Preference for full working knowledge in SAP

Additional preference for experience with Project Management Software

Certificates and Licenses:

Preference for P.M.P

Starting salary at $106,000USD
