Purpose:

The Project Analyst position involves collaborating with team members, adhering to company policies, and striving to achieve both individual and collective goals. Position Overview:
The Project Analyst plays a critical role in supporting the planning, financial tracking, and operational visibility of the company’s fiber construction and broadband deployment projects. This position is responsible for capital expenditure (CAPEX) forecasting, project performance analysis, and the development of reporting systems that provide real-time insight into project status across the organization.
Working closely with Project Managers, finance teams, and operations leadership, the Project Analyst ensures that project financials, schedules, and operational data remain accurate, aligned, and visible across all fiber construction initiatives. This role also acts as a systems and data subject matter expert for project management and financial tools, helping streamline workflows and improve reporting across the PMO and Outside Plant (OSP) departments. The position will report to the Director of Project Management.
Key Responsibilities:
- CAPEX Forecasting & Project Financial Oversight
- Develop and maintain detailed CAPEX forecasts for all fiber network construction projects, categorized by major cost components such as construction, materials, engineering, make-ready, permitting, and internal labor.
- Perform ongoing reforecasting of project budgets based on actual spend, committed costs, and remaining project scope.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to review project financial performance and ensure forecast accuracy across all project phases.
- Track variances between budget, forecast, and actual expenditures and provide recommendations to leadership regarding potential risks or cost overruns.
- Maintain consolidated portfolio-level CAPEX forecasts for executive and finance reporting.
- Project Management System Oversight
- Serve as the internal administrator and subject matter expert for the company’s project management platform.
- Oversee and maintain the structure of departmental boards used by construction, engineering, and operations teams.
- Design and implement a master project management dashboard that integrates data across all departmental boards to provide a unified view of project status, milestones, risks, and schedules.
- Develop standardized workflows, automations, and reporting structures within the platform.
- Train and support internal teams to ensure full utilization of the platform’s capabilities and consistent project tracking practices across departments.
- Financial Systems & ERP Alignment
- Serve as a subject matter expert in the company’s ERP platform during the development and implementation of the Projects Module.
- Monitor project spend across key categories including:
- Accounts payable invoices
- Material purchases
- Credit card expenses
- Internal labor and cost allocations
- Ensure that financial data within the ERP system aligns with approved project budgets and PM-approved expenditures.
- Work closely with finance and accounting teams to validate cost coding accuracy and improve financial visibility for construction projects.
- Assist in developing reporting structures that allow project managers and leadership to easily track project financial performance.
- Data Analytics, Reporting & PMO Tools
- Coordinate the development of automated dashboards and reporting tools that provide real-time visibility into project status, financial performance, and operational metrics.
- Develop reporting solutions for the PMO and OSP departments that eliminate manual data collection and streamline decision-making.
- Coordinate cross-departmental data integration to ensure project information is consistently updated and available.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency through automation, data visualization, and improved reporting workflows.
- Provide leadership with analytical insights into project performance, scheduling trends, and cost drivers across the fiber construction portfolio.
- Qualifications
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Construction Management, Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related field preferred.
- Experience
- 3+ years of experience in project analysis, financial analysis, construction project management support, or PMO operations
- Experience supporting capital infrastructure projects such as telecommunications, utilities, energy, or construction is strongly preferred.
