Job Title: Talent Practices Program Manager 
 

Reports to: Sr. Director, Global Talent Management

Location:  US – Remote

The Role 

Reporting into the People Experience organization, this individual will manage programs in the Talent Management function to drive organizational effectiveness at Deckers. The Program Manager, Talent Practices is primarily responsible for leading organizational performance management – managing execution across Goal Setting, Mid-Year Check-Ins, Annual Performance Reviews and our Annual Promotion Cycle. Grounded in a solid understanding of organizational performance, this role will leverage data and insights to build robust programming to enable Organizational and Manager Effectiveness. This role also supports enterprise-wide Talent Review and Succession Planning. Key partners for this role include our Global PX Business Partners, PX Excellence, Communications, and other Talent COEs (Talent Acquisition, Learning & Experience, Organizational Change Management).

Your Impact  
The primary functions of this role, include but are not limited to: 

  • Lead Global Talent Practices Programs:
  • Owns the comprehensive development and delivery of assigned programs in alignment with overarching Deckers strategic objectives and our related talent strategies.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert for assigned programs, bringing research, data and innovative thinking to the forefront to continuously improve our talent practices.
  • Operates with little oversight to manage programs including setting timelines, aligning stakeholders, developing and deploying communications, defining and implementing system requirements, conducting after action reviews and more.
  • Evaluates programs by defining success measures and leveraging data to measure effectiveness, adjust approaches, and continuously improve.
  • Creates high impact presentations, workshops, toolkits and resources to support organizational and manager effectiveness across talent practices.
  • Collaborates effectively with all key stakeholders aligning program delivery with broader strategic objectives and business needs.
  • Assigned to the following Talent Practices Programs:
    • Organizational Performance:
      • Oversee end-to-end design, project management and execution of performance management 
      • Design and manage the global goal-setting process, ensuring alignment with business priorities
      • Lead the mid-year check-in process, enabling meaningful manager–employee conversations
      • Manage the full annual performance review cycle, from design through execution; ensure systems are configured and tested thoroughly (Workday)
      • Analyze performance ratings, trends and outcomes; prepare executive summaries and departmental presentations
      • Support the enterprise-wide promotion process in partnership with PX Excellence, ensuring consistency, equity, and transparency
      • Conduct after action reviews to enable continuous improvement year over year
      • Create guidance, toolkits, and communication materials for employees and managers
      • Partner with HRBPs and leaders to drive adoption and consistency across the organization
      • Monitor completion rates and provide executive updates on progress and themes
      • Create robust accountability systems that enable year-round performance management
    • Organizational Effectiveness:
      • Leverage frameworks to support organizational scalability and agility in response to changing business needs (e.g., RACI).
      • Support organization design efforts led by PX Business Partners and business leaders to align structures with strategic objectives.
      • Under the direction of PX Business Partners, assess business and workforce impacts to navigate role transitions and ensure smooth adoption of new structures or processes.
      • Use diagnostic tools and models (e.g., STAR Model) to assess the effectiveness of current state and make future state recommendations.
      • Consult on team structures and role design as part of design initiatives, ensuring alignment between organizational strategy, workforce capabilities, and operating models.
      • Drive cultural alignment by identifying behaviors, systems, and processes that need to evolve to support business growth.
      • Lead organizational readiness assessments, using data and insights to proactively address risks and gaps before implementation.
    • Manager Effectiveness:
      • Lead the creation and adoption of content, tools and resources to enable manager effectiveness
      • Use frameworks (e.g., SBI) to equip managers with the skills necessary to deliver performance feedback
      • Leverage coaching model (e.g., GROW model) to enable impactful career conversations and developing planning
      • Conduct needs analysis on a consistent basis to determine evolving manager needs
    • Talent Review & Succession:
      • Support the Sr. Director of Global Talent Management with annual, enterprise-wide Talent Review and Succession Planning
      • Assist by analyzing data, enabling systems (Workday), preparing resources, creating accountability systems to enable meaningful development plans and more

  • 7+ years’ work experience in Talent Management, Organizational Effectiveness or Organizational Development
  • Proven experience leading large-scale, cross-functional talent programs
  • Preferred experience in a global, matrix driven work environment
  • Preferred experience with Workday

$125,000 - $145,000

The salary range posted reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this role in our Goleta, CA location. Individual pay will be determined by location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
