About OpenRouter

OpenRouter operates the largest marketplace and routing layer for large-language models: 400+ models from 60+ providers are reachable through a single API, contract, and bill, eliminating infrastructure sprawl for developers and enterprises alike. We make AI “just work” so companies can focus on what they do best.

We believe LLMs will be the largest software market ever, and today we’re the largest aggregator and discovery point. We serve more than a million developers and route over $100m in annualized inference spend, backed by a16z and Menlo Ventures. We are a fully-remote team of roughly 15 people.

Our culture is engineering-first and velocity-obsessed; we prize clarity, autonomy, and rapid iteration.

The Role

This is our first dedicated Product Management hire. You will become the connective tissue between our engineering and a fast-growing, increasingly up-market customer base of companies that rely on OpenRouter for their inference. You’ll own the backlog end-to-end (triaging issues, framing trade-offs, sequencing work to ship) and create lightweight processes that keep the team organized and focused, and evolve those processes flexibly as we grow. You’ll collaborate directly with the founders on product strategy, roll up your sleeves to write crisp PRDs, interview users, and validate that what we build drives results.

What You’ll Do

Execution & Delivery: Run sprint planning / backlog grooming in Linear (or something better). Create clear specs for both in-depth AI APIs (in collaboration with engineering), and customer-facing web application work. Define success metrics and release criteria; close the loop post-launch with monitoring and retros.

Discovery & Insight: Get on calls with both developer and enterprise buyers; synthesize findings into opportunities and PRDs. Try out the competition, keep on top of the latest trends, and help us decide where we head next.

Prioritization & Strategy: Maintain a living product roadmap that links initiatives to company-level goals and OKRs. Size, rank, and prioritize the opportunities in front of us, while balancing product-led-growth initiatives and the needs of enterprise customers.

About You
  • 3-6 years of product management experience shipping consumer, technical SaaS, or developer-first software products.

  • Comfortable reading API docs, discussing latency, rate-limits, and tokenization trade-offs with engineers.

  • Demonstrated strength in backlog hygiene, prioritization frameworks, and turning ambiguity into action.

  • Skilled at customer discovery; can run a great interview and distill insights into crisp problem statements.

  • Startup mindset: high agency, bias for action, ok with “good process, light bureaucracy.”

  • Excellent written communication; you default to over-communicating in remote, async environments.

Bonus Points

  • Prior work on AI/ML infrastructure, cloud platforms, or marketplaces.

  • Familiarity with analytics tools (e.g., PostHog, Mixpanel) and basic SQL for self-service data pulls.

  • Experience with developer-first or PLG GTM motions.

What We Offer
  • High impact & autonomy: Shape the roadmap of a business at the center of the AI tooling ecosystem.

  • Technical, fast team: Work alongside world-class engineers who value shipping over ceremony.

  • Competitive comp & meaningful equity in a venture-backed, high-growth company.

  • Fully remote, plus regular on-sites for strategy and team-building.
