Biotechnology is rewriting life as we know it, from the medicines we take, to the crops we grow, the materials we wear, and the household goods that we rely on every day. But moving at the new speed of science requires better technology.
Benchling’s mission is to unlock the power of biotechnology. The world’s most innovative biotech companies use Benchling’s R&D Cloud to power the development of breakthrough products and accelerate time to milestone and market.
Come help us bring modern software to modern science.
We are seeking a Product Manager to lead the development of Benchling's scientific analytics capabilities, empowering scientists and biostatisticians to analyze, visualize, and derive insights from experimental data with ease to make informed decisions. This role is pivotal in establishing Benchling as the definitive analytics platform for life sciences R&D, delivering intuitive AI/ML-powered data visualization recommendations, experiment-specific analysis summaries, and robust tools for data curation, configuration of generated analyses, and pre-built analysis templates.
As the PM for Analytics, you will own the product vision, roadmap, and execution for Benchling Insights (including dashboards and analysis), statistical analysis capabilities, data visualization frameworks, and the foundational data harmonization layer that enables seamless analytics across instruments and modalities. You will partner closely with the Automation team to define requirements for upstream data capture and orchestration, ensuring automated workflows generate consistent, analysis-ready inputs. You will also work closely with scientists, data engineers, and cross-functional teams to build extensible analytics capabilities that scale across Benchling’s Research, Development, and AI platforms.
RESPONSABILITIES
- Lead the product vision and roadmap for scientific analytics capabilities, including dashboards, statistical computing, and data visualization.
- Drive the development of an interactive dashboard and layout framework that enables scientists to create customizable, shareable analytical views with rich visualizations, statistical computations, and data exploration.
- Own the analytics extensibility framework, working closely with Platform, Applications, and AI teams to ensure analysis capabilities can be leveraged across product areas and modalities.
- Embed AI/ML into analytics workflows by delivering intelligent visualizations, statistical recommendations, and experiment-specific summaries.
- Develop and expand pre-built analysis templates by partnering with field teams and customers to identify high-value assays and statistical methods, building toward a prebuilt content library that accelerates customer onboarding.
- Lead data harmonization and scientific instrument adapter strategy, ensuring raw instrument data is transformed into analysis-ready, standardized formats (such as the Allotrope Simple Model), enabling consistent, automated analytics workflows and ensuring interoperability and extensibility of analytics frameworks.
- Conduct extensive user research with scientists, biostatisticians, and data scientists to deeply understand analytics pain points, workflow requirements, and decision-making processes.
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers to create intuitive, scientist-friendly interfaces for complex statistical analyses, ensuring accessibility for users with varying technical backgrounds.
- Partner with engineering teams to prioritize features, define technical requirements, and deliver analytics capabilities that are performant, scalable, and reliable.
- Define and track KPIs to measure product adoption, customer satisfaction, and the impact of analytics capabilities on accelerating scientific decision-making.
- 2+ years of proven experience in scientific data and analytics product development, with direct ownership of product vision, agile delivery, and cross-functional collaboration
- 5+ years of experience in assay development and scientific experimentation, with a strong background in laboratory workflows and instrumentation, including building analytical data pipelines and performing computational analyses
- Deep understanding of scientific data analysis workflows, including statistical methods, data visualization best practices, and tools commonly used in life sciences research (e.g., Prism, R, SQL, Python, Jupyter).
- Passion for enabling scientific discovery through technology, with empathy for the challenges scientists face in data analysis and decision-making.
- Comfort with ambiguity and strategic thinking, with the ability to balance long-term platform vision with near-term customer needs.
- Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, with proven success working across engineering, design, data science, and go-to-market teams.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with comfort working with complex datasets, statistical concepts, and quantitative reasoning.
