MSI’s Multifamily business specializes in insurance and risk management solutions tailored to the real estate industry. Our portfolio includes renters insurance, tenant liability, group insurance programs, insurance compliance and verification services, and other innovative products designed to support property managers and residents.

In this role, you will help develop and launch new products, manage state-specific regulatory filings and approvals, and ensure ongoing compliance requirements are met. You will collaborate closely with teams across data and analytics, compliance, distribution, technology, actuarial, and our multifamily partners.

The Role
The Product Manager will report to the Renters National Head of Product and support the Product Team by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to develop and launch new insurance products, enhance existing product offerings, and expand into new markets. This role is responsible for analyzing product performance and profitability, reviewing insurance company filings and regulatory requirements, and identifying opportunities to improve growth and financial results.

Job Description

Independently:
• Work closely with the Product Team, internal and external associates, and vendors to support introduction of new products, enhancements to existing products, and/or entry into new markets to reach company profit and growth targets
• Collaborate with business partners including Distribution, Actuarial, Claims, Operations, Technology, Compliance and Data teams on all product related revisions including new company initiatives. 
• Conduct competitive, market, and portfolio analyses to identify industry trends, emerging risks, and growth opportunities, and recommend strategic product, pricing, and coverage enhancements to improve profitability and market position.
• Collaborate with Distribution stakeholders to evaluate agency performance, identify growth opportunities, and develop data-driven strategies that improve key business outcomes.
• Define and execute product roadmaps aligned with company strategy, leading cross-functional initiatives and organizational change efforts to drive profitability, market expansion, and long-term business growth.
• Monitor regulatory compliance and collaborate with other areas to ensure all regulatory revisions are implemented in a timely manner.
• Apply mathematical and statistical techniques to analyze profitability and competitive position on a state and program basis, and work with relevant Team Members to make recommendations on what actions can be taken to improve product performance
• Review insurance company filings, in particular rate algorithms, underwriting guidelines, and forms, along with industry and regulatory changes to provide recommendations that will improve product launches, changes, and enhancements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Deep insurance product expertise and strong commercial acumen
  • Sound judgment and confident, data-informed decision-making
  • Proven ability to apply AI tools and capabilities to improve productivity and business outcomes
  • Strong project management and cross-functional leadership skills
  • Working knowledge of insurance product development, pricing, and regulatory filing processes
  • Advanced analytical capabilities, including proficiency in Excel and SQL
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to translate insights into action
  • Exceptional self-management, prioritization, and ability to manage multiple initiatives

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• 5+ years of relevant experience in insurance product management, product development, or a related field
• Bachelor’s degree required


LOCATION:
• Remote, with optional access to local Baldwin Group offices
• Occasional travel for internal collaboration and external partner meetings

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & PERCENTAGE OF TIME PER PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
  • The Product Manager will be part of a small companywide team identifying and creating new products with profit and loss accountability for ongoing operations
  • Analyze competitor offerings against MSI’s current offerings and partner and/or market needs to make recommendations on MSI strategic direction and approach
  • Use Project Management techniques to drive implementation of new products and enhancements across all functional areas within the company
  • Provide recommendations to Executives in formulating both product strategy and tactical execution and prioritization
