The Product Manager IV (PMIV) will define and clearly communicate vision, strategy, and roadmap for the product. They will communicate to both internal and external constituents ensuring a strong connection to the product. This may be in the form of documentation, training, working with beta sites, etc. The PMIV will work closely with the Product Development team as well as other groups within Jenzabar and also including clients to form strong relationships. This person will lead meetings remotely, occasionally in person with clients, and at Jenzabar’s annual meeting.
Essential Tasks
- Define and clearly communicate vision, strategy, and roadmap for the product. Evangelize to both internal and external constituents ensuring a strong connection to the product. This may be in the form of documentation, training, working with beta sites, etc.
- Balance module priorities with overall PD Team and Corporate goals.
- Provide leadership to project development team consisting of UX, QA, Dev, Doc, DB throughout the development process. Accountable for the creation and integrity of the product backlog. Leads grooming of the product backlog.
- Gather market requirements and product feedback from both internal and external Stakeholders including cultivating and developing a Product Advisory Group comprised of key client constituents.
- Develop product area Epic, Feature and User Stories that operationalize product vision. Work closely with User Experience to ensure that final product designs clearly execute the vision.
- Coordinate the development of personas with UX Designer to ensure that Stakeholders clearly understand the users & user stories.
- Show proficient communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
- Write and maintain functional requirement documents, detailing descriptions of user needs and necessary acceptance criteria to ensure efficient & precise development.
- Work closely with Technical Documentation team to develop reference guides & online help.
- Triage incoming outreach from internal/external constituents and process to correct resource as needed.
- Complete Hotfix testing as warranted.
- Attend company events, often providing “educational sessions” to staff and clients.
- Share product vision, User Stories and RFP Support for Sales/Solutions Experts/Marketing.
- Maintains Professional and Functional knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.
- Attend tradeshows/conferences representing corporate and product goals.
- Support Developers responding to critical issues brought forward by Services and Support Analyst who need more technical support.
- Maintain transparency regarding roadmap Epics/Features and confidently explain “why” to various stakeholders and constituents.
- Skillful use of developed software functionality.
- Coordinate with Stakeholders to develop a roll-out process that includes Support, Services, Sales/Account Managers, etc.
- Coordinates with PD Management to support product direction.
- Must be comfortable working autonomously without support at any time throughout a project.
- Facilitate “Gemba Walks” to learn directly from the source, the user stories and usability of the software.
- Demonstrate leadership across Product Development teams.
- Provides leadership for other PM team members.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Higher Education Administration, Computer Science or related field.
- 6+ years’ experience working at an Accredited College/University.
- 6+ years’ experience in a Product Manager role in a related field.
- Demonstrate excellent organizational skills, including the ability to work effectively and independently in an atmosphere of multiple projects, across multiple products.
- Must have excellent team building and problem-solving skills with comfortability working in a deadline driven environment.
- Ability to be innovative, creative, strategic, analytical, and think outside the box when problem-solving.
- Familiarity with Relational Database schema & Basic SQL queries are helpful.
The pay range for this position is $70,000-$84,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, geographic location, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual bonus in addition to a full range of benefits.
