Summary

We’re seeking a detail-obsessed, user-centered Product Owner to lead the experience design and ongoing evolution of GeneDx’s physical and digital test requisition forms (TRFs), test kits, and other forms. These are not just operational tools—they are core customer touchpoints, often representing the first tangible or visible interaction with GeneDx for both patients and providers.

You will be responsible for ensuring these artifacts are clear, accessible, intuitive, and frictionless, while meeting critical operational, clinical, and regulatory requirements. Whether accessed through a website, sent by email, printed and handed to a provider, or physically mailed, these materials must deliver both function and clarity for a wide variety of patient and provider care scenarios.

Job Responsibilities

  • Own the experience design, execution, backlog, and day-to-day product delivery for all TRFs, test kits, and other forms and form-related workflows.
  • Lead cross-functional discovery to identify and prioritize user needs across providers, patients, internal teams, and logistics partners.
  • Partner with Product Design/UX, Medical Affairs, Marketing, Lab Ops, Client Services, and Compliance to design materials that are clinically accurate, user-friendly, and regulatorycompliant.
  • Act as the go-to expert on how TRFs, kits, and forms are used across all scenarios, including manual vs. digital initiation, self-pay vs. insurance flows, across clinical specialties, etcc.
  • Define and test omni-channel delivery approaches (e.g., printed, web-downloadable, email attachments, mobile access, physical shipment, etc.) for ease and accessibility.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to develop tools that generate dynamic, context-sensitive documents where appropriate (e.g., pre-filled TRFs, kits matched to workflows).
  • Deliverables may include: annotated wireframes, UX specs for paper and digital layouts, UAT scripts, content review logs, MVP feature definitions, documentation flow diagrams.
  • Define and monitor KPIs such as:
    • % of orders submitted with complete and correct documentation
    • Time to return test kits from order initiation
    • % of users reporting form-related confusion or delays
    • Support tickets or manual interventions tied to TRFs or test kit processes

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • 3-5 years of product management, product ownership, or service design experience in a regulated, operationally complex, and/or workflow-heavy environment
  • Strong understanding of how user-centered design principles apply to both physical and digital artifacts
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams including Product Design/UX, Marketing, Commercial, Compliance, Legal, Operations, and Engineering
  • Familiarity with diagnostics, lab workflows, documentation requirements, and/or healthcare communication is a strong plus
  • Demonstrated ability to think like a systems designer—mapping flows across multiple user types, channels, and points in the journey
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills paired with excellent execution and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies, digital transformation, human-centered design, and modern product discovery/delivery practices.
  • A sense of ownership, humility, and mission-driven motivation to improve lives through better healthcare.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or design/UX education preferred

At GeneDx, we create, follow, and are informed by cutting-edge science. With over 20 years of expertise in diagnosing rare disorders and diseases, and pioneering work in the identification of new disease-causing genes, our commitment to genetic disease detection, discovery, and diagnosis is based on sound science and is focused on enhancing patient care.

Experts in what matters most.

With hundreds of genetic counselors, MD/PhD scientists, and clinical and molecular genomics specialists on staff, we are the industry’s genetic testing experts and proud of it. SEQUENCING HAS THE POWER TO SOLVE DIAGNOSTIC CHALLENGES.

From sequencing to reporting and beyond, our technical and clinical experts are providing guidance every step of the way:

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

  • High-quality testing: Our laboratory is CLIA certified and CAP accredited and most of our tests are also New York State approved.
  • Advanced detection: By interrogating genes for complex variants, we can identify the underlying causes of conditions that may otherwise be missed.

CLINICAL EXPERTISE

  • Thorough analysis: We classify variants according to our custom adaptation of the most recent guidelines. We then leverage our rich internal database for additional interpretation evidence.
  • Customized care: Our experts review all test results and write reports in a clear, concise, and personalized way. We also include information for research studies in specific clinical situations.
  • Impactful discovery: Our researchers continue working to find answers even after testing is complete. Through both internal research efforts and global collaborations, we have identified and published hundreds of new disease-gene relationships and developed novel tools for genomic data analysis. These efforts ultimately deliver more diagnostic findings to individuals.
