Solid Power is seeking a Product Development Intern to join our talented team of engineers and scientists working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next‐generation, all solid‐state rechargeable batteries. Solid Power is a dynamic, fast‐paced, collaborative, and innovative team environment. The preferred candidate will be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program focused on engineering, chemistry, or a related field.
Job Duties:
- Work closely with and under the direction of scientists and engineers to run experiments at the lab and production scales.
- Support electrode fabrication by mixing and hand casting electrode slurries.
- Support slurry development by collecting and analyzing rheological data and making recommendations for future iterations.
- Communicate results and roadblocks to the broader team/audience.
- Always follow all facility and laboratory safety rules and regulations.
Qualifications/ Requirements:
- Enrolled at least in a bachelor’s program in a STEM field.
- Must have experience in an academic or industrial lab environment.
- Comfort with safe handling of hazardous materials and equipment is required.
- Experience in material characterization techniques (XRD, TGA, DSC, rheometry, etc.) is a plus.
- Comfort with safe handling of hazardous materials and equipment is required.
- Foundation in statistical design (D.O.E.) with relevant software experience a plus.
- Knowledge of Li-ion battery cell operation, performance, and failure modes preferred.
- Experience in testing and validation of Lithium ion/Lithium battery rechargeable cells preferred.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience with Python or Minitab is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
- Ability to work in gloveboxes and dry rooms.
- Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary including, but not limited to eye protection, hair net, gloves, face mask, coveralls, full-face respirator or PAPR.
Hourly Compensation: $25/hour
Schedule: 15-20 hours per week during fall semester and up to 30 hours per week during the summer.
