Job Description
The STARZ UX team is seeking a Product Designer to own the design of an ecosystem of internal tooling used by content operations teams. This design role is embedded in a cross-functional team — you will be the primary design voice working directly with product managers and front-end engineers to define, build, and continuously improve the tools that power STARZ content workflows. The right person for this role has strong, well-founded design instincts and the maturity to apply them independently, sharing their design thinking proactively to promote design literacy across the whole team. You are comfortable being the only designer in the room — and comfortable balancing user experience against technical constraints and difficult trade offs.
You’ll work closely with product managers to create and enhance custom internal tools through wireframing, crafting high fidelity designs and prototypes, and usability testing. In addition, you’ll have an active role and voice in the maintenance of our design system, principles, and rules and continue to advocate for the adoption of these principles across the organization.
This team operates with a culture of continuous collaboration and constructive feedback that we utilize to strengthen our collective design and product instincts and ultimately the tools and UX for end users. Reporting to the Director of Product Management, you’ll join a low-ego, high-curiosity team that values collaboration, continuous learning, and growth. We dedicate time and resources to your development and career progression through regular 1:1s, opportunities for innovation, and dedicated education budget.Responsibilities
- Own and continuously improve the Content Supply Chain (CSC) design system: component library, token files, design rules, and operational guidelines that ensure consistency across all internal tools
- Make and advocate for design decisions on custom application builds, grounded in the team's established design principles — predictability, clarity, context, and user agency
- Produce wireframes, high-fidelity designs, and prototypes that communicate solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical collaborators
- Plan and facilitate usability testing to validate design decisions before and after build
- Partner with product managers throughout discovery and definition; translate research findings and requirements into coherent, usable design solutions
- Collaborate closely with front-end engineers to ensure design intent is preserved through implementation
- Maintain and evolve design documentation and guidelines so the system remains accurate, accessible, and scalable as the tool ecosystem grows
- Continuously advocate for rigorous UX design standards within complex, domain-specific tools where users don't choose their software

Qualifications & SkillsRequired
4+ years of experience in product design or UX design, with a meaningful portion spent on enterprise software, internal tools, or complex workflow applications Advanced Figma proficiency: you work in it daily, know the system deeply, and use it to maintain design libraries and documentation, not just produce screens
- Experience owning a design system: building and maintaining component libraries, token files, and design guidelines used by a development team
- Strong rapid prototyping skills: you can communicate an interaction or concept quickly, at the right fidelity for the conversation
- Demonstrated design judgment: the ability to evaluate competing good solutions and make principled decisions, not just identify obvious problems
- Deep fluency in information architecture and interaction design for data-dense, task-oriented interfaces
- Comfortable operating as the sole designer in the room: you know how to stay rigorous and validate your thinking without always having other designers in the room
- Strong, well earned opinions: you have strong opinions, backed in research and best practices, for how to implement designs. You’re open to expanding those opinions always, but when you’re presenting a design challenge, you’ve often already thought through many questions on your own and are prepared to speak to your rationale and thought process behind design decisions
- Strong communication skills: you can articulate design decisions clearly to engineers, delivery managers, and stakeholders who don't share your design vocabulary
- Experience with Kendo UI for Angular or comparable component-based UI frameworks
- Experience managing variables in Figma and core, semantic, and component based design tokens
- Background in content operations, media, broadcast, or similarly specialized internal tool environments
- Experience applying a structured, test-and-measure mindset to design decisions and AI-augmented design workflows
- Portfolio that includes design system work: not just finished screens, but evidence of how the system thinking was built, maintained, and evolved
- Portfolio requirement: An online portfolio is required for consideration. We're looking for process-driven case studies — problem definition through implementation — for complex, workflow-heavy products. Consumer or student work alone won't give us what we need to evaluate fit for this role.
