Opportunity

StratusGrid is building Stratusphere, an agentic platform that helps companies identify, approve, execute, and verify cloud optimization opportunities. We are looking for a Product Designer who can turn complex cloud, financial, change-management, and automation workflows into experiences that are clear, trustworthy, and easy to act on.

You will work closely with Product, Engineering, Customer Success, Cloud Optimization, and customers to understand real-world problems and design solutions that move users confidently from insight to decision to execution. Cloud optimization is not simply a reporting problem. Customers must understand recommendations, evaluate risk, coordinate approvals, execute changes safely, and verify that the intended financial outcomes were achieved. You will help define the product experience for that entire journey, and your work will directly influence customer confidence, adoption, approval velocity, time to value, and verified savings.

This is a hands-on role with meaningful influence over both the product and how our design practice evolves. You will own problems from discovery through implementation and iteration, and help establish how design operates at StratusGrid: how we conduct discovery, test ideas, use AI tools, collaborate with engineering, build reusable patterns, and measure the impact of our work.

Responsibilities

• Own End-to-End Product Experiences: Design intuitive workflows across discovery, recommendation review, approval, execution, verification, reporting, and continuous optimization, not just individual screens.

• Turn Complexity into Confident Decisions: Translate technical and financial information into clear, decision-ready experiences that help users understand what Stratusphere found, why it matters, what action is recommended, the associated risks, and what will happen next.

• Lead Customer-Centered Discovery: Partner with customers and internal teams to understand goals, pain points, approval processes, objections, and trust gaps. Use interviews, usability testing, prototypes, analytics, and field feedback to identify opportunities and validate solutions.

• Design Trustworthy AI and Automation Experiences: Define how users interact with agent-generated findings, plans, explanations, and actions. Make system reasoning, assumptions, status, human control, auditability, and rollback readiness understandable without overwhelming the user.

• Build Scalable Product Patterns: Develop and maintain reusable interaction patterns, components, information architecture, and design-system foundations that keep Stratusphere consistent and understandable as it grows.

• Carry Solutions Through Implementation: Collaborate closely with engineers from concept through launch, and use AI coding tools such as Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, or similar tools to ship prototypes, front-end refinements, design-system updates, and other well-scoped product improvements. Product Engineers will own deeper architecture and complex implementation.

• Measure and Improve Outcomes: Learn quickly through customer feedback, experimentation, and post-launch measurement to reduce friction across critical workflows, increase confidence in AI-generated recommendations and automated actions, and reduce engineering dependency for well-scoped design and front-end improvements.

Requirements

• Experience Designing Complex B2B SaaS Products: You have designed multi-step workflows for technical, operational, infrastructure, finance, security, developer, or enterprise users.

• Strong Workflow and Systems Thinking: You can make sense of role-based experiences, approvals, exceptions, dependencies, operational handoffs, and complex underlying systems.

• Customer Discovery and Product Judgment: You can conduct or contribute to interviews, usability tests, journey mapping, prototype reviews, and other discovery activities, then make thoughtful tradeoffs across customer needs, business outcomes, technical constraints, scope, speed, and quality.

• Strong Interaction Design and Information Architecture: You know how to organize complex information, reduce cognitive load, create clear navigation and interaction patterns, and produce polished flows, prototypes, wireframes, and high-fidelity designs.

• Technical Curiosity and Implementation Aptitude: You learn technical domains quickly, collaborate effectively with engineers, and are comfortable using AI-assisted development tools to implement or refine well-scoped product experiences.

• Clear Communication and Ownership: You explain design rationale clearly, invite useful feedback, communicate progress and risks, and stay accountable for the quality and impact of the experience through launch and iteration.

• Travel: Willingness and ability to travel periodically for customer engagements, team planning sessions, or onsite collaboration.

• Remote-Work-Ready: Equipped to work effectively in a distributed team, including a reliable high-speed internet connection, a professional and distraction-limited workspace, and the ability to consistently communicate, collaborate, and execute independently.

• Work Authorization: Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire. This position does not offer visa sponsorship.

You do not need to be a cloud engineer or meet every preferred qualification. We are most interested in candidates who demonstrate strong product thinking, curiosity, judgment, and the ability to simplify difficult problems.

Nice-to-have / differentiators

• Experience with cloud infrastructure, FinOps, DevOps, security, observability, data platforms, automation, or technical operations.

• Experience designing AI-assisted, agentic, recommendation, automation, or decision-support products.

• Experience with enterprise approvals, auditability, role-based access, governance, or change-management workflows.

• Experience working in an early-stage or high-growth SaaS company.

• Experience using product analytics, funnel analysis, behavioral data, or session review to measure and improve product experiences.

• Experience with React, TypeScript, GitHub, component libraries, accessibility standards, or production design systems.

Benefits

At StratusGrid, we invest in the health, well-being, and growth of our team. We offer competitive pay and a flexible benefits package that supports employees and their families at every stage. Full-time employees receive:

• Competitive salary

• Medical, dental, and vision insurance

• Life insurance and short-term and long-term disability coverage

• 401(k) plan

• Flexible PTO, paid sick leave, and paid holidays

Benefits may vary by location and employment status.

Equal opportunity & fair chance hiring

StratusGrid is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law. Qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered in accordance with applicable laws, including the California Fair Chance Act.

Accommodations

StratusGrid is committed to providing reasonable accommodations throughout the hiring process. If you need an accommodation, please note it in your application or contact us through our website.

We encourage you to apply even when your experience does not match every item listed. We would rather meet a strong product thinker with relevant transferable experience than miss someone because their background does not follow a conventional path.
