Gastro Care Partners is seeking a compassionate, patient-focused PRN Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality infusion therapy services in an outpatient gastroenterology setting. The Infusion RN is responsible for administering biologic and specialty infusion medications, monitoring patients throughout treatment, collaborating with providers, and ensuring safe, efficient, and exceptional patient care. Work Authorization & Residency Requirements
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and throughout their employment. Gastro Care Partners does not provide employment visa sponsorship now for this position. Additionally, employees hired for this position must reside in the State of Colorado no later than their first day of employment and maintain residency in Colorado throughout their employment in this role.
Compensation: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour plus Full Benefits
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide quality nursing care before, during, and immediately after infusion treatments.
- Administer intravenous infusion medications in accordance with provider orders, clinical protocols, and nursing standards.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor patients throughout treatment for adverse reactions or changes in condition.
- Accurately record patient assessments, medication administration, treatment outcomes, and other patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Foster continuity and quality of care with the best interest and well-being of patients and their families in mind.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions as appropriate, collaborating across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfers, discharges, and referrals.
- Initiate, maintain, and discontinue peripheral IV access.
- Educate patients regarding medications, treatment plans, potential side effects, and post-treatment care instructions.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations, including respiratory and cardiac events, and provide emergency nursing care as needed.
- Report emergencies, unusual occurrences, safety concerns, and operational issues to the Operations Manager and/or Lead RN.
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, and clinical staff to ensure safe and effective patient care.
- Inventory, control, and maintain medication inventory, medical supplies, and equipment in accordance with clinic policies and regulatory standards.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and documentation of infusion medications and supplies.
- Assist with clinic operations and housekeeping duties, including cleaning, wrapping, disinfecting, and sterilizing equipment and treatment areas.
- Maintain compliance with infection prevention standards, medication handling procedures, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support a positive patient experience.
- Provide coverage and support clinic operations as needed based on patient volume and staffing requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including responsibilities not specifically listed in this job description, to support the efficient operation of the clinic and delivery of exceptional patient care.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.
- Current BLS certification.
- Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience.
- Experience starting IVs and administering intravenous medications.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and patient education skills.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR).
Preferred
- Infusion nursing experience.
- Gastroenterology, oncology, rheumatology, or specialty clinic experience.
- ACLS certification.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to perform clinical procedures requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity.
