Overview

Microsoft Azure runs some of the largest and most mission-critical services in the world. Brain is the centralized AIOps system that helps service teams understand health, detect emerging issues, reduce noise, and move toward more autonomous operations. We are looking for a Principal Product Manager to lead the Health & Detection space, driving the next generation of AI-powered health models, anomaly detection systems, signal correlation, and service health experiences.

This role sits at the center of Microsoft's Artificial Intelligence Operations (AIOps) strategy. You will define how Brain uses AI, machine learning, and large-scale telemetry to identify emerging issues, reduce human toil, improve detection quality, and accelerate customer-impact mitigation. You will partner closely with Engineering, Data Science, and service teams across Microsoft to transform operational data into actionable intelligence and autonomous decision-making systems.
Success in this role requires both strategic product leadership and deep curiosity about AI. You will be expected to identify new opportunities where AI can improve service health outcomes, shape investments in intelligent detection and automation, evaluate model performance and business impact, and drive adoption of AI-first experiences across Microsoft's cloud platform. Given the increasing focus on quality and reliability across Microsoft, this role will help drive outcomes that are highly visible to Microsoft’s Senior Leadership Team and Board of Directors. Success in this role will directly contribute to the Quality Excellence Initiative (QEI) by advancing AI-powered health intelligence, improving detection quality, reducing risk, and enabling more proactive prevention of customer-impacting issues.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

Responsibilities
  • Define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Brain Health & Detection platform, including health models, anomaly detection, signal correlation, and service health insights.
  • Use telemetry, customer feedback, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) insights to identify reliability gaps, prioritize investments, and improve detection quality.
  • Partner with Engineering, Data Science, and service teams to deliver scalable, secure, and trusted health and detection experiences.
  • Establish success metrics and drive outcomes across detection precision, recall, alert quality, noise reduction, adoption, and time to detect.
  • Lead end-to-end product execution, from problem definition and experimentation through release, adoption, and continuous improvement.
  • Influence senior leaders and partner teams to align priorities, resolve tradeoffs, and drive strategy across organizational boundaries.
  • Mentor Product Managers and help shape Microsoft’s long-term Artificial Intelligence Operations (AIOps) vision for autonomous service health management.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development
    • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 12+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years experience taking a product, feature, or experience to market (e.g., design, addressing product market fit, and launch, internal tool/framework).
  • 6+ years experience improving product metrics for a product, feature, or experience in a market (e.g., growing customer base, expanding customer usage, avoiding customer churn).
