We’re looking for a Principal Product Developer to help evolve and support business-critical applications built across modern .NET technologies and legacy Pick/UniBasic environments. This is a hands-on technical leadership role for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, modernizing established systems, mentoring developers, and shaping better engineering practices. You’ll work across application development, integrations, APIs, databases, and release processes while helping ensure Epicor’s distribution solutions remain reliable, scalable, and ready for what’s next.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Plan, design, develop, test, and maintain software systems and applications.
  • Provide technical leadership on complex development initiatives and projects.
  • Partner with Product Development, Product QA, and other cross-functional teams to ensure change, testing, and release requirements are met.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects in partnership with Product QA.
  • Mentor, coach, and provide technical guidance to other developers.
  • Deliver formal and informal technical training.
  • Recommend and implement software development best practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation, continuous integration, and process optimization.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, development practices, and industry trends for potential use in Epicor products and processes.
  • Promote consistent engineering standards and help ensure adherence to Epicor development practices.
  • Contribute to technical decision-making and help teams deliver high-quality solutions within established timelines.
  • Represent Epicor's technical expertise at internal and external events, as appropriate.
What You'll Likely Bring
  • 10+ years of progressive software development experience, including demonstrated expertise in Windows Forms development.
  • 3+ years of experience developing applications using VB.NET, including web and/or Windows Forms applications.
  • 4+ years of experience working with software solutions in the distribution industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience with software testing methodologies and defect resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical work and help teams meet project deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to propose, evaluate, and implement new technical ideas.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, and developing other technical professionals.
  • Strong customer-service mindset and ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Ability to act as a technical thought leader and change agent.
What Could Set You Apart
  • Experience integrating third-party applications and controls into .NET applications.
  • Experience integrating OLE Control Extension (OCX) controls into .NET applications.
  • Experience working with WebSockets.
  • Familiarity with REST APIs and HTTP GET and POST methods.
  • Familiarity with XML and JSON.
  • Experience developing Windows Services, Web Services, and IIS applications.
  • Experience with Multi-Value database structures or NoSQL concepts.
  • Experience with Git version control.
  • Experience with Visual SourceSafe (VSS).
  • Experience with Jira or similar project-tracking tools.
  • Familiarity with credit card processing.
  • Experience within the automotive aftermarket parts supply chain.

Range:

Minimum: $138,000 USD Maximum: $235,000 USD

The salary range provided reflects the national average for this job title and does not represent compensation specific to Epicor Software Corporation. Actual compensation will vary based on experience, qualifications, and market factors relevant to the position.
