- Design, implement, monitor, enhance and troubleshoot systems in assigned areas
- Analyze and revise existing system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary
- Test and review system designs
- Provide engineering technical support and guidance to regional personnel and ensure all technical integration, changes, standards and documentation are met
- Mentor and guide the work of technical staff
- Review work plans and design and advise on improvements
- Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable
- Know, understand and follow company policy

What You'll Bring to Spectrum
Required Qualifications
Education
- Master's or bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field or related work experience
Experience
- 5+ years engineering work experience
- 5+ years project management work experience
Skills
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Basic knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols
- Basic knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology
- Basic knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model
- Basic knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations
- Basic knowledge of network devices and basic network appliances
- Basic knowledge of network designing software, such as Visio
- Ability to perform duties in a very fast-paced environment and ability to learn new technology quickly
- Ability to use personal computer and software applications

- Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)
- Industry and vendor specific certifications and training preferred (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.)

Skills
- Knowledge of Spectrum products and services
- Troubleshoot routing/switching/Firewall/Transport (Layers 1-7), DNS, DHCP, and IPv6; analyze live packet flows.
- Experience in Wi-Fi or network operations with direct break/fix ownership in live environments (NOC/call center/carrier experience a plus).
- Strong routing/switching fundamentals; deep OSI model knowledge (up to L7) and solid L1 understanding.
- DNS, DHCP, IPv6, and packet-flow troubleshooting proficiency.
- Working knowledge of AAA concepts and Linux command-line operations.
- At least 1 year of automation with Ansible and/or Python.
- Education: Equivalent experience valued; Bachelor's + 1-2 years NOC experience considered well
- Carrier/ISP operations background; experience with broadband edge.
- Vendor-agnostic wireless controller skills (e.g., Ruckus, Cisco, Aruba).
- Load balancing and GSLB familiarity (e.g., A10, Anycast).
- Observability tooling (Grafana, Splunk, Netscout) and strong service documentation habits.
- Relevant networking/wireless certifications.
