Identifies pricing actions to improve gross margin, sales value, and customer satisfaction; approves minimum pricing holds and provides pricing help desk support. Requires strong analytical, communication, detail-oriented, and problem-solving skills.
SUMMARY: The Pricing Specialist is a key resource on Blackhawk’s pricing team. The pricing specialist supports assigned territories and is a key member of the local branch leadership team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Communicate and process timely pricing changes based on pricing structure and contractual requirements. If required by customer, provide impact reporting for Sales approval prior to implementing price changes. Includes both data entry and reporting activities.
- Grow total gross margin dollars by identifying pricing actions that encourage higher sale values, margin rates, and customer satisfaction.
- Present pricing analysis such as Value Gap Analysis/Inflation, PSVM (Price, Sales Volume, Mix) reporting and Customer Impact Reporting to the sales team. Provide insights, trends, and suggestions. Work closely with GM and CSR Manager to drive toward Plan goals.
- Provide timely approval for “Minimum Pricing Rule” price holds requiring specified approvals.
- Provide Pricing “HELP DESK” support as needed to backup team members.
- Prioritize collaboration and advisory input to your respective GM’s.
- Maximize usage of assigned Junior Pricing Specialists.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Analytical: Solid analytical skills are necessary to compare sales and margin trends.
- Communication: Solid written and verbal communication skills are important, as pricing analysts work with team members at all levels, including branch associates, account managers and general manager.
- Detail-oriented: The ability to pay close attention to detail to provide customer facing information is a crucial aspect of the role. Will require processing large volumes of data in an effective manner.
- Problem-solving: Pricing analysts require problem-solving skills to identify declining sales and margin trends and devise strategies to improve them.
- Must be proficient Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- No direct or indirect supervision of others.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 2-5 years of Accounting, Sales, Customer Service or Marketing experience is preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- None required.
