About the Role

Overview

The Pricing Data Scientist will play a pivotal role in supporting Fetch's best-in-class pricing and portfolio profitability. This role will be an integral contributor to a wide range of pricing initiatives with time split between predictive modeling, forecasting, and traditional ratemaking.

In this role, you will apply predictive analytics to help improve existing pricing models, support the development of product changes, contribute towards the development of new and innovative coverages and products, and assist with regulatory filings, rate indications, and process modernization. This role will be involved in other special projects as needed including financial forecasting, regulatory research, and lifetime value modeling.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Identify deficiencies in risk segmentation and build predictive models (GLMs, GBMs, etc.) to support rating revisions.
  • Develop models to assess the impact of pricing changes on conversion, churn, and profitability.
  • Revise rating for territories and breed groups using modern machine learning approaches.
  • Review pricing for limits and copays using traditional increased limit and deductible discount factors.
  • Forecast key financial metrics such as policyholder churn, written premium, and claim volumes.
  • Write SQL queries to support ad hoc data requests from stakeholders across the business and support pricing datasets.
  • Estimate impact of coverage and product changes on pricing.
  • Support rate indications and regulatory filings as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • At least three years of experience working within P&C or Health Insurance, with at least 2 years focused on ratemaking or predictive modeling.
  • Graduate degree in a quantitative field or ACAS preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and one of R or Python required.
  • Hands-on experience applying machine learning models and classical statistical approaches to rating plan development.
  • Experience with geospatial statistics or clustering is a plus.
  • Ability to translate complex models and analysis into clear recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working with AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or similar.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Compensation
  • The pay range for this position is $130,000 - $160,000 on a full-time basis
  • Along with base salary, your position may qualify for additional bonuses
  • This position is eligible for the Company’s bonus plan(s)
