The Opportunity:

The CIS program supports our intelligence customer deliver IT services to conduct its globally distributed operations. We are driving an exciting technological transformation of customer IT services by leading the design, development, implementation, and operation of cutting-edge solutions. This includes continuous service improvement through the modernization of IT system infrastructure.

CACI is looking for an experienced, innovative, and motivated Platform Engineer to support the mission objectives and needs of the customer, the Defense Intelligence Agency. In this role, you will be the technical authority responsible for engineering secure, resilient, and scalable platform services across Windows Server, Linux, virtual, physical, and cloud environments. You will design optimized operating system configurations, database platforms, and collaboration‑service infrastructure that meet stringent DoD, IC, and agency compliance requirements. Your work will drive modernization, automation, and mission‑ready performance through rigorous engineering, testing, documentation, and seamless transition of solutions into operations.

The position is contingent upon award of the DIA SITE III CIO Infrastructure Services (CIS) contract.

 Responsibilities:

  • Design efficient Windows Server and Linux operating system configurations to host enterprise business systems and customer applications.

  • Lead modernization and upgrade efforts for enterprise SQL Server clustered platforms, ensuring RMF accreditation and Authority to Operate (ATO) approval.

  • Develop, review, and implement agency, DoD, and IC standards for SharePoint/Collaboration services and Windows Server, database, and application security, including DISA STIG compliance.

  • Manage and maintain DIA’s database infrastructure, including enterprise SQL Server clusters and stand‑alone databases.

  • Apply familiarity with physical hardware, virtual infrastructure, and cloud deployment variations to support diverse mission requirements.

  • Support Interim Authority to Test (IATT) and recurring ATO packages for acquired or inherited environments.

  • Collaborate with Operations teams to ensure maximum availability and reliability when accessing physical or remote administration services.

  • Automate builds, rebuilds, zero‑day configurations, and deployment processes for high‑availability platform services.

  • Analyze requirements, concepts of operations, and system architectures to produce detailed platform‑infrastructure designs aligned with mission objectives.

  • Work with Operations teams and Government stakeholders to refine requirements and verify availability, reliability, resiliency, and operability objectives.

  • Research optimal design characteristics, conduct Analyses of Alternatives, and provide informed recommendations on platform technologies and feasibility studies.

  • Integrate capacity, performance, and service‑level metrics into platform designs to optimize user experience and infrastructure utilization.

  • Produce engineering artifacts, detailed designs, test cases, training content, and supporting documentation—including CONOPS—while working independently or guiding small teams.

  • Research new platform technologies, evaluate integration value, and provide objective tradeoff analyses as part of Continual Service Improvement and innovation cycles.

  • Use Lab facilities to conduct experimentation, feasibility studies, investigations, and technology validation.

  • Develop unit and system‑level test cases and scripts, ensuring complete coverage and successful outcomes before production deployment.

  • Support acceptance testing, Blue/Green fielding, and early production rollouts to ensure smooth operational adoption of engineered solutions.

  • Provide advanced troubleshooting, repair, and optimization for Virtual Desktop Infrastructure components related to platform service delivery.

  • Develop platform strategies for assessment, planning, vendor evaluation, procurement, deployment governance, compliance assurance, and risk management across phased modernization efforts.

  • Support end‑to‑end engineering‑to‑operations transition activities to maintain stable, secure, and mission‑aligned platform performance.

Qualifications:

Required: 

  • Must hold a current Top Secret SCI clearance with ability to obtain poly prior to start

  • DOD 8140 Certification applicable to role (minimum Security+)

  • HS and 16+ years of experience, an AA and 14+ years of experience, BS/BA and 12+ years of experience, MS/MA and 10+ years of experience, or PhD and 8+ years of experience

  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience designing, integrating, validating, and implementing IT hardware and software solutions

  • Microsoft-certified Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate or Red Hat Certified Administrator (RHCS) or Linux Professional Institute LPIC-1 certification

  • Willingness to learn new skills and new technologies

Desired: 

  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics

  • Familiarity with IC ITE services and classified environments

  • ITIL 4 Foundation Certification (or higher)

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$90,300-$189,600
