Overview
The Distributed Platforms team is looking for a Senior Platform Architect to own and develop a cohesive architecture across our various on-premise compute, storage and runtime products and services, along with owning our hardware standards ensuring we are optimally placed to provide our customers with the best possible experience today and in the future across storage, CPU compute and GPU compute platforms. The ideal candidate must have an infrastructure architecture background with a passion for understanding how various compute and storage products and services interact with each other and how they fit together to provide a common architecture across our global datacenters.
Role & Responsibilities
In this architecture role, you will:• Own and evolve end to end compute and storage architectural patterns and designs for the Distributed Platforms program.• Partner closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) across engineering teams, as well as cross domain pattern teams (networking, databases, datacenter engineering), to define and execute strategic platform roadmaps.• Define and lead the GPU and AI infrastructure strategy spanning compute and storage platforms.• Establish, maintain, and govern architecture standards, reference designs, and best practices to ensure consistency, scalability, and operational excellence.• Influence platform direction by balancing technical rigor, operational feasibility, and customer needs.• Act as a trusted architectural authority across infrastructure, platform, and product teams.

The ideal candidate for this position will demonstrate:• More than 10 years of proven experience owning and designing large scale compute and storage architectures in enterprise or datacenter environments.• Strong hands-on knowledge across core infrastructure technologies, including:
o Linux and Windows
o VMware
o Storage platforms (file, object, and block)
o Kubernetes, Tanzu / PCF, and modern container platforms• Experience designing infrastructure to support GPU accelerated AI/ML workloads.• A strong foundational understanding of networking and datacenter infrastructure.• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, high quality architectural documentation.• A product and service-oriented mindset, with the ability to understand and anticipate customer and platform consumer needs.• A collaborative leadership style, with a passion for bringing together SMEs across multiple domains to define holistic, scalable architectural standards.
