ABOUT THE ROLE

The Plant Controller I is an entry-level finance management role responsible for supporting day-to-day financial operations within the plant. This position focuses on job costing, financial reporting, budgeting support, and ensuring accuracy in accounting transactions and internal controls. Working closely with plant leadership and the corporate accounting team, this role provides foundational financial insights to support operational decision-making.

Plant Controller - Level 1 Starting Salary: $85,000 or higher depending on experience and location.

  • 2-5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Plant Controller - Level 2 Starting Salary: $105,000 or higher depending on experience and location.

  • 7-10 years of experience in accounting, with a minimum of 2 years in a manufacturing environment.

Plant Controller - Level 3 Starting Salary: $125,000 or higher depending on experience and location.

  • 10 - 13 Plus years of experience in accounting, with a minimum of 3 years in a senior-level manufacturing role.

Plant Controller - Level 4 Starting Salary: $145,000 or higher depending on experience and location.

  • 13+ Plus years of experience in accounting, with a minimum of 3 years in a senior-level manufacturing role.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Assist in preparing plant-level financial statements and reports
  • Monitor daily accounting transactions for accuracy and compliance
  • Maintain job costing records and analyze labor, material, and overhead variances
  • Support month-end close activities, reconciliations, and reporting processes
  • Assist in developing budgets and forecasts under corporate guidance
  • Maintain and support inventory control and costing systems
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial controls and company policies
  • Provide basic financial analysis to support plant operations and decisions
  • Collaborate with corporate accounting and plant leadership teams
  • Assist with audits, reporting requirements, and special financial projects

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented and analytical finance professional early in their career who is eager to grow within a manufacturing or construction environment. They are comfortable working with data, learning complex cost structures, and supporting both plant and corporate teams. This individual is proactive, organized, and communicates financial information clearly to support operational decision-making and continuous improvement.

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • 2–4 years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or construction
  • Understanding of job costing and manufacturing financial metrics
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to present financial information clearly to leadership teams
  • Knowledge of AIA billing and construction accounting practices is a plus

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Occasional visits to active plant and field locations are required based on operational needs.
  • Ability to wear all required PPE, including but not limited to safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility vest, hard hat, and other PPE as required while in the plant and field.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and navigate active plant and field environments as needed.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, walk on uneven surfaces, and safely move through industrial work areas.
  • May be exposed to moving equipment, machinery, and other standard industrial hazards.
  • May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, as well as noise, dust, and vibration.
