Overview
Electric is seeking a People Operations Generalist who is passionate about building strong, trusted relationships and creating an exceptional employee experience. Reporting to the Director of People Operations, this role will be instrumental in championing initiatives across Benefits, Payroll, and Recognition + Rewards, making a tangible difference in the lives of our employees.
What you’ll do
Lead payroll, benefits, equity, recognition, and rewards administration, serving as the go-to person for all questions and concerns from employees
Build and maintain healthy and trusted relationships across the business
Identify and facilitate enhancements to our systems, processes, and procedures
Champion employee experience and think big-picture on how we can continuously improve and level-up our offerings
Field questions and concerns from employees at all levels, providing answers, coaching, and directing employees to appropriate resources.
Foster a supportive and approachable environment for all employees, driven by a personal commitment to delivering exceptional, timely, and empathetic service
Prepare and deliver key management reports on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end basis.
Ensure compliance with employment laws and policy best practices
Contribute to general People Operations functions on an as-needed basis, including supporting processes throughout the employee life cycle, maintaining HRIS data, and assisting with special projects
Benefits + Rewards
Serve as primary contact and maintain quality relationships with external benefits and rewards vendors, auditors, and consultants
Participate in the development and implementation of new benefit and reward programs
Make benefits strategy recommendations and lead annual open enrollment programming
Administer all employee benefit and rewards programs
Design and administer employee wellness programs in collaboration with vendors
Serve as primary internal contact to support employees' benefits and leave of absence inquiries
Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations related to employee benefits, including ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and ACA
Regularly reconcile benefits billing reports
Serve as the primary contact for annual 401k plan audit and testing requests; providing records and documentation, as needed, in collaboration with other members of the finance and people teams
Payroll
Process multi-state U.S. payroll accurately and timely in compliance with all regulatory requirements for exempt and non-exempt employees
Liaise with payroll and tax vendors to ensure timely reporting and payment of payroll taxes and year-end payroll processing (tax year-end reports, W2s)
Liaise with Company’s payroll provider to handle all federal, state, and local payroll tax correspondences
Serve as the primary contact for payroll and finance audit requests; providing records and documentation, as needed, in collaboration with other members of the finance team and other departments
Who you are
3-5 years of People Operations experience, with specific experience in administering payroll and benefits
Experience with Paylocity HCM solution is highly preferred
Intermediate Excel skills; ability to use vlookup and pivot tables
Extensive knowledge and experience in payroll including preparation, balancing, calculation, processing, internal control, and US payroll taxes across 20+ states
Knowledge of standard benefits offerings, FSA/HSA and 401k, and best practices in reconciling related invoices
A self-starter, who can work independently and can proactively identify problems, provide solutions, and always seeking ways to improve, even with limited resources
Thorough and detailed

A strategic, entrepreneurial thinker who isn’t afraid to push the envelope and take calculated risks in the name of driving big wins
Ability to deal with employees at all levels to handle confidential information and be sensitive to personal situations

Working Conditions
This role is required to go into our New York headquarters at least one day per week. We are only able to hire within New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut for this position.

Where?
We are headquartered in NYC, and have remote locations across 24 states. Our largest markets outside of the Tri-State area are California and Colorado. We embrace a hybrid culture and offer opportunities throughout the year for folks to get together in regional markets or at HQ. With a widely distributed team, we are used to working remotely across different time zones.
